2020 Form 944

Just updated to 02160153 in both QB 2020 and 2021 and

 

STILL NO FIX.  THE REPORTING AGENT VERSION STILL DOES NOT WORK!!!

Why is customer support silent on this issue??  Since I cannot post my contact information here, I demand that someone who can offer something beyond a canned response explain what is being done to rectify this error.  It is simply outrageous that this error was identified 2 months ago and there have been several updates with no solution. 

 

And to be sure there's no misunderstanding:  the Reporting Agent version of the Form 944 shows an error when the taxpayer has a refundable CARES Employee Credit which prevents the form from being e-filed.  The error says you can't claim a credit when there is an amount due.  The Employer version of the 944 does not have this error, so it's clearly a software problem which should be easily fixed.

Another payroll update.....still no fix.  Frankly if I wasn't so deep into the Intuit products I'd switch.

Interruptions to the tax form processing can be a deal breaker and frustrating. Please know that we don't want to cause any delays to your tax deadlines. 

 

This error message you're getting is caused by the Retention Credit amount. To make sure you're able to get the form corrected, I recommend reaching out to our Support Team again. They can initiate a viewing session with you and can help make any adjustments or corrections with the posting of the Worksheet 1 components.

 

To get our support, follow the steps below:

 

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Hit Search then scroll down to get your contact options.

You can also use the forms directly from the IRS website to ensure you're able to catch up with the filing.

I wonder if you read this entire thread.  I made it clear that I had spend several hours with support, and this problem ONLY occurs in the Reporting Agent version of Form 944.  The employer version handles the credit correctly.  This is a problem with the form and NOT my client file or how I set up the CARES Credit.

And of course today's payroll update DOES NOT fix this very simple problem.  How does one make sure the development team gets the message?  Do the forum monitors pass along information?

Thanks for the suggestion.  I just submitted a Bug Report, including a request to contact me regarding this perplexing error.  And while I would call customer support again, all they would do is run through the same standard error resolution steps and come to the conclusion that the error is in the form and not my payroll.  I'm in the middle of tax season and simply to not have the time to waste  doing the same thing I did months ago.

A year later and this exact issue still exists for the RA 944 when claiming ERC for 2021 tax year.
