2020 W-4

Can anyone tell me if they are able to enter the 2020 W-4 in their employee screen.  I have the desktop version. According to support I have the correct version with updates but I have been on hold for 30 minutes with them and they are unsure what I am even asking.

2020 W-4

Hi there, binks,

I'm here to help ensure you're able to enter the W-4 2020 information in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Let's perform the clean install process since your program is already updated to the latest release. This will fix display issues that will replace the system on your computer. No worries, it won't affect your accounting data.

First, download a new file of your QuickBooks so you'll get the latest update for this version. Then, save the file somewhere you can easily find it.

Second, backup your company file to prevent it from accidental loss.

Third, uninstall QBDT through the steps outlined below:

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu.
  2. Search for “Control Panel” and open it.
  3. Choose Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  4. Select the version of QuickBooks Desktop you're having problems with from the list of installed programs.
  5. Click Uninstall/Change and follow the onscreen instructions.
  6. If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back in to Windows as an admin.

Lastly, you can then follow Step 4 and 5 on this article, Clean install QuickBooks Desktop for instructions and detailed steps.

I've also added the Latest payroll news and updates to find information as well as the earlier release of the product.

Let me know how this goes by leaving a comment below. I'm here to help ensure your success.

Thanks for replying. That is probably something I would have IT take care of. I am on a server and I have 45 clients in QuickBooks. Sales said accountant 2018 would work as I don’t have to officially upgrade till May of 2021. I thought I could address it with support but I find that not very helpful.
