Can I make a payroll check for a reimbursement only? It is not allowing me to.

Hi there, idf_01197627-871.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about your payroll concern. I’ll guide you on how to create a reimbursement paycheck.

Before we proceed, may I know if you receive any errors when running payroll? This will help identify if we have any reported issues.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can set up a reimbursement pay type and add it to the paycheck. Let me show the steps on how to do this in your company.

  1. Press the Payroll menu on the left panel and choose the Employees tab.
  2. This will open a list of your workers.
  3. From there, click on the employee’s name to view the profile.
  4. In the Employee details tab, press the Pencil icon for Pay and go to How much do you pay employee? section.reimbursment.png
  5. Click the Pencil icon to open the Pay types window.
  6. Tap the Another hourly pay type link to expand the line.reimbursement1.png
  7. Fill in the fields and type Reimbursement in the Pay type box and enter the amount in the Rate per hour field.
  8. Choose Save.

Once done, the newly created payroll item will show on the Run Payroll page. When processing payroll, input the amount in the Reimbursement box.reimbursment.2.png

If you’re using the Intuit Full Service Payroll and unable to see this option, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team for further assistance.

Check this article for more details: Create a reimbursement pay type in Online Payroll. It includes instructions on how to assign it to another employee.
