Can you import miles/trip information into QB online?

Unfortunately you have to input it manually. I have yet to find any app to import it into QBO.

Can you import miles/trip information into QB online?

Hi there, tracypuglisi.

Currently, we are unable to import miles/trip information into QB Online.

For now, I suggest to manually adding the trip information to the program. As Fiat Lux - ASIA stated above.

Here's how:

1. Click the Mileage at the left panel.

2. Select the Add trip button.

3. Fill in the trip date, starting/ending locations, distance, and the trip purpose.

4. Choose the Save button.

Please check this article on how to add a new vehicle or edit vehicle info in QBO: Track mileage in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success.

If mileage is in the same format as what Quickbooks exports, it doesn't make sense that it can not be imported. Is a fix planned in the near future?

Hello there, boomerlee.

There's no specific timeline yet as to when this feature be available. Meantime, you can manually track and record trips manually to QuickBooks.

You might also want to download or QuickBooks Online app, and turn auto-tracking on. Once turned on, it will automatically detect your starting and stopping locations while you’re driving. When you’re finished with your trip you can categorize it as business or personal. I'll be attaching the article my colleague shared that gives the details on how to so: Track mileage in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to get back to us if there's anything else you need help with. Take care!

I use the Mile iq app. It tracks my mileage automatically. Then I go in and classify. And even that is a chore. There is no way I'll ever manually add all that into quickbooks.

Even the ability to make a Memorized Transaction for  Mileage Entry or the ability to duplicate a mileage entry should be a simple enhancement and would save me a bundle of time.

The ability to make a Memorized transaction for mileage entry or even just a duplicate function for a mileage entry should be a simple and easy enhancement that would save me a ton of effort.

Is there a place where we can request this feature to be added to the system? It would come in handy.

Hi there. This would be a useful feature. I'm a courier driver manager and our route plans are exported in the same format so we could simply upload the route plans into quickbooks. The current version of the Quickbooks auto-tracking doesnt stop and start the trips quick enough and it also really slows the phone down.

The problem is with Step 3. The UI is cumbersome making data entry impractical.

I just finished adding my mileage in Excel (after downloading .csv from QB and using the same format) only to find that I cannot import, much to my dismay.

The tracking feature is fantastic, but since I only had it for one quarter, I had a lot of manual entry to do.

What would be better than import would be quicker entry using only the keyboard (no mouse!!). Also:

  • auto-calculate mileage based on google map data
  • roundtrip checkbox

Seriously! How many of us small business owners make the same trip every business day to the bank or the post office? Probably a lot of us! It's unbelievable that QB hasn't made this easy for us.

I do the same 6 trips...  Repeatedly   It takes way too long to enter the details over and over again.

can you please add a "Round trip" function on QBO web / Windows interface like on the mobile app.

can you please add a "Duplicate this trip" button

can you please add a "Import from csv" function.

Thanks for dropping by in the QuickBooks Community, @jasencavalli.

I definitely understand how it can be frustrating to sign up for a service and have it not work the way you think it should be.

For now, you'll have to use either MileIQ or Google apps to import your trips in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

If you aren't using any of these apps, I'd suggest adding them manually in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Miles menu and select Add trip.
  2. Enter the distance in the Add miles field, then edit the Date.
  3. Select the ✏️pencil icon to edit the start and end addresses.
  4. Add a Trip purpose note.
  5. When you're done, click Save.

For more details about this process, check out this link: Manually track mileage in QBSE.

I can see how this option would be helpful for you and your business. Therefore, let me take note of this as a suggestion to improve your QuickBooks experience.

In the meantime, I recommend visiting our Firm of the Future site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features.

If you have any other concerns, feedback, or questions, don't hesitate and come back to the Community. I'm always here to help you. Have a great day.

Can you import miles/trip information into QB online?

Rey,

If you look at the comments and the other threads about this issue you would see that the other features have been broken for over a year now. We can not add in any mimes in bulk. The main issue we have with this is that the official response has been "Well... you can enter them in manually"
