Changing Sick and Vacation Year w/Enhanced Payroll

How do I change the year shown in the edit employee screen for Sick and Vacation Hours Available/Used?  I'm not ready to close my fiscal year yet for financials, but need to change the Sick and Vacation banks for 2019.  My system is still showing 2018.

Re: Changing Sick and Vacation Year w/Enhanced Payroll

Hello there, smeader.

Good to see you here in QuickBooks Community. I'm here to help and provide some insights about Sick and Vacation hours in QuickBooks.

Are you referring to the Hours available/used as of (date) on your employee's payroll information? If so, this date is the last day of pay period of the latest paycheck. Once you create a new paycheck with a pay period of 2019, QuickBooks will automatically change the date.

For additional reference, you can check this article to learn more about pay sick and vacation time.

Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about Sick and Vacation hours for your employee. I'll be around to help.

Re: Changing Sick and Vacation Year w/Enhanced Payroll

I have created two pay periods now in 2019 and my Hours available/used as of (date) still shows 2018. How do I change it to 2019?

Re: Changing Sick and Vacation Year w/Enhanced Payroll

Hello there, @tstovall.

Thanks for providing us an update about the steps that you've tried. I'm here to provide additional information about changing the Changing Sick and Vacation Year in QuickBooks Desktop.

The Sick and Vacation Year should be changed since you've created periods for 2019. To get this issue sorted out, let's try running the verify and rebuild process. Verifying the data identifies the most commonly known data issues within a company file while rebuilding data resolves integrity issues.

To do that:

  1. Click on File at the top menu bar.
  2. Select on Utilities.
  3. Click on Rebuild Data.
  4. Select OK when you see Rebuild has completed.

Once done, you can proceed with verifying the data:

  1. Click on File.
  2. Select on Utilities.
  3. Click on Verify Data.
  4. If you see QuickBooks detected no problem with your data, select OK. You may continue using your company file.

To learn more about this process, please refer to this article: Resolve data damage on your company file

However, if the problem continues after performing these steps, you can try using the QuickBooks Diagnostic tool to verify and fix issues with your company file. For more information on how to do that, please check out this article: QuickBooks Diagnostic Doctor.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest giving our Customer Care Team a call. This way they'll be able to pull up your account in a secure space and verify what's causing the issue.

To do that:

  1. In your browser, navigate to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Select the issue or topic.
  4. Click the Green Phone button to see the support number.

That should do it, @tstovall

Feel free to reach back out to me if you need further help with changing Sick and Vacation year in QuickBooks Desktop. Have a great week ahead!
