Duplicate payroll items deleted from payroll info, but still duplicating

I have a duplicate payroll item that is being generated on a paycheck in manual payroll for Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2018. This item is under the "other" tab in the employee's payroll info. There is no duplicate to delete in payroll info, other list. It is happening for one employee only. How do I get rid of this ghost entry?

I'd like to get this sorted out, dgoldberg.

Let's make sure to update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release by following the steps in this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Once done, restart your computer and open the QuickBooks program. If you're still seeing the duplicate payroll item, you can follow these steps to re-sort the list of the payroll items:

  1. Go to Lists > Item List,
  2. Click the Item drop-down menu located at the bottom and choose Re-sort List.
  3. Select OK.

I've got this article for more details: Re-sort lists in QuickBooks Desktop

Go to back to the Employees page, and open the paycheck. If the payroll item still shows up in the paycheck, you can do the Verify and Rebuild Data by following the instructions here: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Otherwise, contact our Customer Care Team for further assistance: Before doing so, please check our support hours here: Support hours and types. Then, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Help QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
  3. From the Contact Us page, select any topics.
  4. Under Here's how to connect with a QuickBooks expert section, click the Get Phone Number or Start a Message button.

Please don't hesitate to add a comment here if you have any additional questions or other concerns. Take care and stay safe.
