e-file CA payroll forms

Quickbooks telling me I have to download payroll update in order to e-file CA payroll forms.  Updates have been downloaded but still am unable to e-file ... same message

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and updating your payroll tax table in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).


As of this moment, we have an investigation currently in place concerning an unexpected error when trying to e-file CA state tax forms. Our product engineers are now prioritizing this so you can get back to your business as soon as possible.


I recommend giving our Customer Care Team a call to add your account details to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be updated as soon as a fix is implemented. Here's how you can reach out to them:


  1. Go to the Help icon and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.callback QBDT.PNG
  3. Write your concerns in the description box, then select Continue.
  4. Select which one of the support options you'd like to use.


For now, I recommend to manually file your tax form to your state tax agency while the investigation is still ongoing.

We want to help. However, as mentioned by my colleague above, there’s an investigation just reported concerning this matter.

Since you’re having the same issue, you can follow the recommendations suggested above. You’ll want to contact our Customer Support team to inform them that you’re one of the affected users that unable to e-file payroll forms. Please check out our hour’s operation before contacting them so you’ll be assisted immediately.

You can also present this investigation number INV-50910 as a reference to our support team for quick verification. It helps the team to recognize customers who have affected and need to be prioritized. Once you’re added, you’ll get a notification for updates.
