electronic payroll without using direct deposit

Hello All,

My employees submit their hours for the week on Friday and we normally cut them a paycheck.  We have set up direct deposit but they want their money same day.  Is there anything legally restricting me from creating a paycheck on the books, email them the receipt and then quick pay them via zelle or venmo?

I would assume everything would still be accurate.  I wonder about being able to connect the payment and the paycheck stub should there be any questions other than documenting date, days worked and number of the check (even though it's echeck).  Thank you for your feedback!

electronic payroll without using direct deposit

Hello there, @mdegrazia.

Since you'll want to pay your employees without using a Direct Deposit (DD). We can change the payment method from DD to paycheck. Then, add notes on how you process the payroll of your employees.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu.
  2. Select the Employees tab and then click Run payroll.
  3. Click the Direct deposit under the PAY METHOD column.
  4. Select the Pencil icon beside the Pay section.
  5. In section 6 How do you want to pay, click the drop-down list, and select Paper check.
  6. Click Done.

After that, run payroll for the employee for record-keeping purposes.

This article will guide you on how to temporarily turn off direct deposit to pay employees via paycheck: Turn off a direct deposit for an employee.

If you decide to pay your employee back via direct deposit, this article will guide you with the exact information on how to pay electronically: Pay employees and contractors with direct deposit.

Feel free to drop a comment below if you have other questions. I'll be right here to help you out. Have a great day!
