When I was using Quickbooks Desktop, there was a report titled "Employee Pay Adjustments History." Since I switched to Quickbooks Online about 1 year ago, I cannot find a similar report in Quickbooks Online. Is there a way to create this report?
Hi there, jmcintosh.
QuickBooks Online does not have a similar report. You can run a Payroll Summary by Employee report and use the date prior to the wage adjustment. Then, open the paycheck to get the previous rate or wage amount.
Here's how:
Let me also share this link to get the list of available payroll-related reports in QBO: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/payroll-reports/run-payroll-reports/00/369201.
I'd be glad to get back to this thread if you have other questions. We're always here to help.
That is not what I am looking for. I want a history of every pay rate change for each employee since they began working for us. The report you suggest will only allow a max of 2 years and it doesn't show pay rate changes. It shows every paycheck in the selected period. I am attaching a screenshot of the Quickbooks Desktop report for 1 employee showing what I am looking for. It obviously is not current because I am no longer using Desktop.
I accidentally posted the other reply with the screenshot as an attachment but this is what I am looking for.
Thanks for the screenshot, I know this isn't the kind of service that you want to have when switching to QuickBooks Online, jmcintosh.
As mentioned by my colleague @JenoP, the only closest alternative that you can do is to use the Payroll Summary by Employee report to give you some of the information you need. You can also customize reports by applying multiple filters if you want additional information to show.
In addition, please check out these lists of payroll reports available in QuickBooks Online. This will give you a closer look at the business.

As far as I can tell, Payroll Summary by Employee is a report that cannot be customized. The only thing i see as helpful is there is a box to check to show the hourly rate. This will show the hourly rate for each employee and then the date can be changed and the report rerun.

Wow. that's very disappointing. Really a huge lack.
The whole point is to be able to see WHEN raises were issued.
Please add Pay Adjustment Report to QB Online (or) add pay rate field to customize options in Payroll details report. This would help employers a lot and save a lot of time during annual pay planning.
Hello, anand-innovafami.
I appreciate your reply and sharing your thoughts about having the Pay Adjustment report in QuickBooks Online.
Yes, and I do agree that it would save employers valuable time when reviewing the employees' payroll data.
In any case, I would recommend sending feedback to our developers about this idea. Simply go to the Gear menu, then select Feedback.
If you haven't done it yet, I would also suggest following the workaround given by JenoP.
If you'd like to run a comparison between different time periods for your Profit & Loss reports, you can check this article for a guide: Run a Profit and Loss Comparison Report.

it is like you didn't even read his question as the work around does not help, at all and the P&L has nothing to do with empoyee pay rates. The report they are asking for is something we used all the time as well. So far a year into QBO and very disappointed to the point that we will probably leave the quickbooks product after almost 20 years of use in the desktop version.
I am disappointed myself been trying to figure out the same report needed. There is no way to get the "Employee Pay Adjustment History" in QB Online. I need this report! I ready for a change in software this is crazy
It seems that spewing out useless information is a workaround for admitting the shortcomings of QBO. It's ok to say, we don't care what reports you find useful, get over it!
A year later and this report is still not available in QBO!! It's easy...the report has already been designed. If it needs rebuilding and testing, it should only take a few hours to do so. Very disappointing.
The QB Desktop and the QB Online developers are completely separate groups, and do not communicate.
QBO is a very limited product, but it Intuit has decided that it is the future of the company anyway.
And the reporting functions in QBO are very limited. QBD uses a SQL database, and there are lots of reporting products out there. I'm not sure what db is used in QBO, but it obviously does not have the reporting capabilities of SQL.

I have just spent over an hour also looking for a simple wage rate increase (decrease) report as well - BIG waste of time! Here's a novel idea: why doesn't someone ask the QB Desktop and QB Online Developers to collaborate - talk to each other - on this issue and get it done?! Every employer who does payroll needs the capability to look back on previous wage amounts and when changes have been made, from hire date forward. This is rudimentary reporting that *should* automatically be included! Please don't give us anymore lip service on this issue, it's been since QBO came to be - please forward it up the food chain so someone who has the power and authority to make this report available, actually does!
Agreed! I am trying to pull this information for a worker's comp audit. No luck...lot's of manual work in my future for something that other payroll systems track and report on.
WHY? JUST WHY? Would QB remove a report like this? Are you guys really that out of touch with your customer's needs?
Thank you @JenoP for being honest with the OP as to the absence of her desired report and for clearly offering her your best (even if weak) alternative. Going to add my two cents and express my disappointment to find no Employee Pay Adjustments History report. Report customization in general is seriously lacking in QBO vs QBDT. I spent years refining custom forms in Desktop to help me provide labor numbers to my boss (per her needs, utilizing classes) and to complete my monthly Bureau of Labor Statistics form. I understood these wouldn't be included in our conversion to QBO but if I knew I couldn't rebuild them properly I might have ignored my accountant's pressure to switch. As suggested, I will add my feedback in QBO, even if it feels like my little voice will not be heard, based on other overwhelmingly popular long-standing requests that seem to be stuck in Developrs' InBox.
