Hello there, @Teri.
Tracking time for Online Payroll is only available for US-based employees. Meanwhile, you can still use the option for customers and vendors doing business outside of the country with the help of the multi-currency feature.
For more information about this, I recommend taking a look at this article: How Multicurrency works.
Adding a foreign vendor and customer with their corresponding currency is available in QBO Essentials, Plus, and Advanced. Make sure to enable this in the program to start using the feature.
Here's how:
See Turn on and use multicurrency for more details.
Please let me know in the comment section if you have additional questions. I'm here to help. Take care!
Thanks for confirming it is the PAYROLL vs. TIMESHEETS where this would be a problem for users, and that they are connected in QB. That makes more sense. I understand multi-currency is issue, but not get why time-tracking would be. So timesheets only work with QB/Intuit payroll service?
Please let me join in this conversation, and thanks for coming back to us, @Teri.
Yes, @Teri. Timesheets work well with QB/Intuit payroll service.

Hi, is there a way to resend the email to employees to ask them to enter their time?
Greetings @GMTF,
It’s great to see you in the QuickBooks Community! Getting your employees to enter their time is super important, we get it. While you can set up reminders for them, there isn’t currently an option to resend them. I’d be happy to submit a feature request for you. I’m sure that it would be beneficial for other employers as well.
Let me know if you have any other questions or what else I can help with. I’ll be around!
@GMTF - My timekeeping system allows this, just FYI to you and QBO to help either one or on both sides. Our original pre-set reminders go to employees with link daily at preset time and same at each period end.
In addition to that automated functionality, admin person can login to T&E, check mark employees on list to generate an automated system reminder at any point in time, of course also with link to timesheet to click.
Another option available, which you may already have or not yet need, is to copy supervisor on reminders.
Timesheets required in our industry to bill customers and invoices must be submitted within 3 days for most.
I followed these steps exactly and the weekly timesheet function does not come up.
I have quickbooks online essentials (April 2021).
Is the weekly timesheet function no longer a part of quickbooks online essentials?
Welcome to the thread, eddieb2.
When using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essentials, you can track time. To ensure you'd able to use this feature, let's check if it's turned on. Here's how:
Once done, check if you're now able to create a weekly timesheet. If the Weekly timesheet button is greyed out, I recommend contacting the primary admin of the account. Have them add you to have user access for time tracking.
Here's what they'll need to do:
To know more about the Time Tracking feature, see the below articles:
Keep me posted on how things go on your end. I want to ensure you'd able to use QuickBooks for your business needs. Have a great day.
There is no Weekly Timesheet in Online essentials that I can find.
There is no weekly timesheet in Online Essentials that I can find.
I can help you find this weekly timesheet feature, @spiceit.
Weekly Timesheets and Single Time Activity are only available to QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced users.
You'll need to have a payroll subscription to find this Weekly timesheet from your + New button in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essentials account.
Adding a payroll service to your QBO account is quick and easy. You can go to the Payroll menu to activate it.
Here’s how:
You can refer to this link to know the payroll solution that works perfectly for you: Find your accounting and payroll solution. I’m also adding a guide that contains resources to let you know more about the processes using the payroll feature: Commonly used articles to get started with Payroll.
Once you're done, you'll now have the Weekly timesheet feature. Here’s everything that you need to know in setting up timesheets and setting up users to access them: Timesheet setup: QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Time.
Let me know if you have any other concerns or follow-up questions with weekly timesheets and or anything else by leaving a reply below. Take care and have a wonderful day!
Thanks for the reply. Do the weekly timesheets come included with the PLUS version? Or do I also need to choose a payroll product in order for the timesheets to come?
What about QBO PLUS version? Do the weekly timesheets come with that? Or do I need to choose a payroll product in order to get the weekly timesheets in there?
I have great news for you, @spiceit.
Time tracking is a built-in feature that is available in QuickBooks Online Plus. You can use this feature to track and bill customers for the number of hours consumed in a project or activity. All you have to do is enable this feature from the settings.
Here's how:
1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
2. Choose Advanced.
3. Tap the pencil to the right of Time tracking. Then, turn on Make Single-Time Activity Billable to Customers and Add Service field to timesheets. When either of these is checked, employees and contractors who fill out timesheets can specify if activities should be billed to a customer.
4. Click Save and then Done.
I've also added these articles below to learn more about timesheets:
• How to turn on and set up time tracking
• Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription
Additionally, here's a link that covers all the tasks you can do when using QBO. Just look for topics that fit your concern.
Please feel free to reach back out if you have other questions about the time-tracking features in QBO.
I am specifically asking if the WEEKLY TIMESHEETS are included with QBO Online Plus version. I am not asking about the single time activity screen. I am asking about the WEEKLY TIMESHEET.
I have heard about a product update that Quickbooks Time, starting July 15th on, will NO LONGER be bundled with Quickbooks Premium payroll. Reference here: https://www.firmofthefuture.com/content/papp-faqs/
Please clarify.
Hi, spiceit.
I can help you find this weekly timesheet feature in QuickBooks Online.
As mentioned by my colleague @MJoy_D. Weekly Timesheets and Single Time Activity are only available to QuickBooks Online Plus or QuickBooks Online Essentials users.
You'll need to have a payroll subscription to find this Weekly timesheet from your + New button in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essentials account.
Then, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague above on how to add payroll service to your QuickBooks Online account and activate it.
I'm adding this article to further guide you in managing your workers' and employees' time using QBO: QuickBooks Timesheet setup. It includes topics about inviting users, entering and approving timesheets, and troubleshooting saving issues, to name a few.
Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other concerns about the Weekly timesheet function or inquiries in managing your employees' timesheets, I'm just around to help. Take care always.
Im sorry, but this is the 5th time I am asking the same question. Please dont refer to QBO essentials at all.
I would like to know if the WEEKLY Timesheet comes with QBO plus version. I am not asking about QBO essentials. I am not asking about the single time entry, or single timesheet. I AM asking about the WEEKLY timesheet.
Is it included with QBO Plus version WITHOUT getting a payroll add on.
This is a very clearly worded question. I cant believe I cant get a clear answer to this.
Hello there, @spiceit.
The Weekly Timesheets is a built-in feature that is available in QuickBooks Online Plus. All you have to do is enable this feature from the settings so that it will visible in your QBO account.
You can follow the steps I have given above to enable it.
You can also check this link to set up QuickBooks timesheet: QuickBooks Timesheet setup.
Please know that you can always get back to us if you have any other clarifications or questions. I'm always here to help.
Please try this for yourself. You are incorrect. You will not get the WEEKLY timesheets in QBO plus by following the instructions that you have said. Sign up for a new QBO Plus account. If you don't add on a payroll option it is impossible to get the weekly timsheets in there. Please dont confuse WEEKLY timesheets with (single) timesheets.
Try it please.
Hi there, spiceit.
I'd like to share what I know about timesheets in QuickBooks Online.
I just tried it on my system. The Single Time Activity and Weekly Timesheets are available in QuickBooks Online Plus. As what my colleague mentioned, you just need to enable it. These are basic features added to help you manage timesheets inside QuickBooks without payroll.
That being said, if you're tying to set up multiple hourly rates then you'll need to add the payroll subscription.
I'll also add these articles for more information about the timesheet set up and how to use it:
Let me know if you still have questions or clarifications about timesheet. I'll keep an eye for your response. Keep safe.
Whenever I entered the time like 11:00 Am to 07:00 Pm it creates auto double time entry ,like 11:00 to 5:00 then 5:00 to 7:00 ,where as i want in just one ...
Good morning, @Imran Opal.
Thanks for joining in on this thread. Let's work together and get this problem handled.
Sounds like you may have the automatic breaks set up in your account. When you enter a timesheet and save, QuickBooks Time is coming in and inserting the break. Let's double check your settings to ensure of the cause. Here's how:
Here's a guide to help you manage these breaks as well: Create and manage breaks in QuickBooks Time.
Let me know if this helps or if you need anything else. I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Have a great day!
this solution will take a long time to accomplish...mostly because tech support stinks..it takes forever to get verified..they should just allow people a pin rather than the endless..account number, name blah blah blah...its not like you have a business to run that isnt qb and dont want to hangout with them all day because they rob your business blind with wages going out on the window on this program that has so many of the same subject things scattered throughout it instead of located by subject for each thing..no..that would make sense..they arent interested in our productivity at all...its horrible..tech support has been useless to me..I usually spend 3 hours every monday waiting for someone to roll out of bed from tech support they dont know the answer so you are on phone or share screen while they look it up..because they dont know it either..When I cant figure it out I have three hours to go through community notes, the size of usa tax code if not larger...to try and find a solution, then I will call tech support 5 people later someone might understand the question or have an answer..I dont have time at work for them to learn thier job on the fly when asked questions
"CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE' IS ABOUT AS USELESS AS THE PROGRAM
