Error message "cannot create a check for my employees because you have already made IL tax payment for the quarter." How can I reverse it? Not letting me do payroll.

Welcome to the Community, Eloisa. Let me ensure that we get around the error you've encountered and get you back in processing your payroll.

When you make IL tax payments for the quarter, you won't find an option to create a check. You can verify this by opening the Tax Payments report, which shows all the tax payments you made either electronically or manually in your online payroll account. Here are the steps to access the report:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Select Reports from the left menu.
  3. From the Find report by name field, type and select Tax Payments report.

Once you have accessed the report, we can review the status of your payment. However, please note that the "Delete" option will not be available when your tax payment is in process or has already been processed electronically. In such cases, I recommend contacting our payroll team. They can help you remove the payment in a secure environment.

I'll also be including this helpful resource that can help in managing your payroll in QuickBooks: Pay and file payroll taxes online.

If you need further assistance with payroll or any other QuickBooks-related matters, I'll be keeping watch for your replies in the comment section. Keep safe.
