Form 1099

I am trying to print forms 1099-NEC in QuickBooks desktop. It says account is mapped to 1099 miscellaneous and I should remove it from 1099-Misc And map to 1099 – NEC. How do I do that?

I'm happy to walk you through how to remove miscellaneous in 1099 MISC and add this to in 1099-NEC, @Beth. You're in the right place for answers. 

 

Let's ensure that the miscellaneous will be added to 1099-NEC. This way, you can print and submit the form with the correct data. 

 

To do this, follow the steps below: 

  1. Ensure your QuickBooks is in the latest release
  2. Go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences
  3. Pick Tax: 1099 and select Company preferences
  4. Click you can do it hyperlink in 1099-MISC. 
  5. Pick Omit these payments from 1099 in the Miscellaneous box. 
  6. Tap Save and close
  7. Go back to the Company preferences and click you can do it hyperlink again in 1099-NEC.
  8. Pick the appropriate box in the Miscellaneous field. Select Show all accounts if you didn't see the other details. 

 

After that, you can now review your 1099 costs and file the form. To know which payments should be excluded from the 1099-NEC form, visit this link: 1099 payments FAQS.
