Welcome to the QuickBooks family, @Hun.

Allow me to walk you through how you can change the current rate in QuickBooks Online. You can update it by going through the tax setup again specific for the Washington workers' compensation.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation bar, hover your cursor to Taxes and select Payroll Tax.
  2. Click Edit your tax setup.
  3. Below Washington, choose WA Workers Compensation Tax
  4. Search for the current rate, then press Edit
  5. Make necessary changes.

Additionally, I recommend the following resource, which contains helpful information about the calculation and filing process: Washington workers' compensation setup and calculations.

If you have additional questions or concerns while working in QBO, leave a comment below. I’ll be happy to help you out.

I must be going blind. Using Online Payroll, I do not see where to Edit my Tax Setup from the directions posted here.  The only L&I settings are under individual employees settings, and no calculation is available based on hours X a rate, only as a % of gross pay, or a flat amount.  I can also access other state tax settings by going to the gear and selecting payroll settings but no L&I settings appear.

The screenshots provided are for State Unemployment Insurance, NOT L&I, which is entered under the Worker's Compensation tax.  I am having issues with it not calculating out the appropriate decimal points, and can't find where to change it once a rate has been entered.  I can add new rates, but not modify.  What a frustrating nightmare

Here it is December and the problem has still not been fixed.  I NEED TO UPDATE THE RATES BEFORE THE NEXT PAYROLL.  However, your advisor, typically has no clue about the program.  The employee clearly is NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE PROGRAM and proceeded to waste everyone's time with incorrect information and finally said to call someone.  GREAT, I will spend over an hour talking to someone overseas, who is hard to understand and  has no clue what is going on.  The program keeps getting screwed up with changes that don't work and the employees are useless.  Anyone out there know of a better program????

Well, December 26 and still not fixed.  We are looking for another program.  Too much of this going on.  I think the issue is that QB is trying to sell their payroll services, so is making it difficult for us.  Also, the foreign employees are clueless.  When the 941 tax report disappeared, first she told me that they never had one.  Then, she told me that the taxes weren't due yet and they would post it on the due date.  Seriously?  Did she expect that I would run across the street with the check to the IRS? Just clueless.   I have just reached my limit with them.  Do you have any suggestions of another program?
