How do you changed the payroll period for a payroll that you have already run?

Greetings, @octopuswindowcle.

Thank you for reaching out. Let me help you in modifying the pay period in running payroll.

You can update the pay schedule on the Payroll Settings. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Gear icon. Then select Payroll Settings.
  2. Select Pay Schedules in the Payroll and Services section.
  3. Select Edit next to the pay schedule you want to update or delete.
  4. Update the pay schedule information.

For more details, you can review this article: Set up and manage payroll schedules.

Please let me know if you have further questions. Stay safe and enjoy your weekend!

How do you changed the payroll period for a payroll that you have already run?

Thanks Mich_S.  I was able to edit the future pay schedule to my desired dates.  However, the past pay period that I have already run still contains the wrong dates.  Is there any way to change dates on a previously run payroll?

Thanks,

Adam

Thanks for getting back and providing an update, @octopuswindowcle.

Right now, able to change/edit a pay period of a processed paycheck is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). As a workaround, you can delete and recreate them instead. To do this, let's pull up the Paycheck List report to serve as your guide.

Here's how:

  1. In the left menu, click Reports.
  2. Type in Paycheck List on the search bar.
  3. Click the Funnel icon drop-down to choose a date.
  4. Put a checkmark on the paychecks you need to delete.
  5. Click Delete.

Once done, to recreate them with the correct pay periods, follow the below steps:

  1. In the left menu, click Payroll.
  2. Go to the Employees tab.
  3. Click Run payroll on the upper right, then pick an employee.
  4. Enter the necessary information.
  5. Select Preview payroll
  6. Click Submit payroll.

To learn more about what you can and can't be edited on a paycheck in QBO, see this article: Change an employee paycheck.

Please know that I'm here anytime you have other concerns. Feel free to reach back out. Have a great day.

How do you changed the payroll period for a payroll that you have already run?

It was processed via direct deposit payroll.

How do you changed the payroll period for a payroll that you have already run?

Hello there, @Test2Go

Direct deposit paychecks can be canceled up until they start to process. We process paychecks two banking days in advance, at 5 pm PST (Pacific Standard Time). For example, if you've scheduled an employee's paycheck on Friday, you can cancel it until 5 pm PST Wednesday.

If it hasn't been processed yet, you can delete the paychecks:

  1. Click Workers, then choose Employees.
  2. Click Paycheck list under Run payroll.
  3. Select the check to be deleted, then click Delete.
  4. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

If you can't delete it, you can contact payroll support for assistance. Here's how:

  1. Navigate on our website: https://payroll.intuit.com/support/contact/?infosrc=qs&service=64.
  2. Choose Intuit Online Payroll.
  3. Under Free Live Help, get the number for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

I'm still here if you have other payroll concerns though, just leave a comment below.

I don't have the "Payroll and Services" section in my Payroll Settings.  How else can I change it?

I want to make sure you're able to update your pay schedule, @Bonehat.

May I know what payroll service you're using? If you have QuickBooks Online Payroll (Full Service, Core, Premium, and Elite), you'll have to reach out to our Customer Care Support Team so they can help you edit the pay period.

Additionally, we can only update future pay schedules. If you're trying to change the date on a previously run payroll, you can delete and recreate it instead. You can follow the steps provided by MirriamM. If you're unable to delete it, please contact us to connect to a payroll expert.

Here's how:

  1. Click the (?) Help icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Dashboard.
  2. Select Talk to a Human.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern and press Enter.
  4. Click I still need a human.
  5. Select Contact Us to connect with our live support.
  6. Choose Get a callback.

Hi there, @circletoffice2.

I recognize you need to pay your employees through a payment schedule. I'll show you the steps within the QuickBooks Online Payroll.

You can organize your employees' pay schedules using QuickBooks payroll products. It aids in payroll management and increases processing efficiency.

Set up, assign, and update a payment schedule through the steps outlined below:

  1. Navigate to Payroll, then to Employees.
  2. Choose your employee.
  3. Select Start or Edit from the Employment Details menu.
  4. Select the pay schedule for the employee moving forward from the Pay schedule dropdown. Select Add pay schedule to create a new pay schedule.
  5. Fill in the necessary fields. Then click Save.
  6. Lastly, tap Save

Furthermore, I recommend calling our payroll support team if the options are still unavailable.

Here's how:

  1.   Click the (?) Help icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Dashboard.
  2. Select Talk to a Human.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern and press Enter.
  4. Click; I still need a human.
  5. Select Contact Us to connect with our live support.
  6. Choose to Get a callback.
