Hi there, JSBG. Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
You can export your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop for Windows, then convert your Windows file into one configured for Mac (MAC.qbb). Afterwards, the backup file can be imported into your books.
Here's how:
There's definitely some things you'll want to be aware of as well, such as limitations. For example, paychecks and liability payments will export as regular checks. If a check's number field is blank in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop for Windows will automatically assign a number. This can lead to duplicate check numbers appearing after the conversion's completed. Additionally, their pay/liability periods also won't be exported.
You can learn more details about the limitations involved with converting from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop in the following resource: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop
I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome day!
If you don't have any Windows machine to convert your QBO data to QBD, consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service to QBD Mac.
Isn't there an easier way than using windows with my Mac? this is so confusing

You can only move your QuickBooks Online (QBO) payroll data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), then convert the file to the Mac platform.
You can follow the steps shared by my colleague ZackE above. Another way is to look for a third-party app that has the feature you need. Simply go to the Apps menu in your QBO or visit our QuickBooks App Store for reference.

Which QBD Mac year version do you need to run?
Hello, terimade1.
I have the information where you can download the trial version of QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
You can click here to see the trial link. Before doing so, please make sure your computer meets minimum requirements to install QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 22.0.
Once done, check out this article to see the limitations: Get more info about what data does and doesn't export from QuickBooks Online. Then, follow the steps 2 to 6 in the instructions shared by my colleague ZackE here.

How disappointing it is to find that Intuit does not have an employee with enough skills to create a method to go from Mac online to Mac desktop without a third party. Windows--really? After being an Intuit customer since 1993 (when Quicken was blue), I am now researching other platforms to make a change. Chat just ping-ponged me back and forth between online & desktop since neither could help. Phone call yielded the same. Unfortunately, there is no Customer Service. Reading fellow customers' frustrations in this community forum made me realize I'm not alone, but that gives me no comfort. Thank goodness I didn't spend the $350 on desktop that would have been useless! If anyone has found a suitable QB replacement, please post. Since Intuit cannot help, surely they can't object.

Do you need to find a decent replacement for QB Desktop for Mac? or else?
