We want to make sure our customers stay on top of payroll tasks, especially for the coming year-end. That’s why it says you have to run the payroll on 12/31. If you’re already complete in paying your workers for this year, disregard the notification and pay them on the next payroll run (January 11).
For future reference, I’m adding these resources to guide you complete year-end tasks smoothly.
Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other QuickBooks concerns. I’ll be glad to answer them for you. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Hello,
The year-end checklist states that the last payroll for 2022 needs to be submitted by Dec 29th, but my employee's last working day in 2022 will be Dec 30th. Please assist in how to submit final payroll.
Hey there, @CROSS2.
Thanks for joining in on this thread. Allow me to give you some additional information about submitting your final payroll for 2022.
When performing these steps in my test account, I was able to run payroll for a future date. With that being said, you can run payroll with 12/30 as the pay date. You'll just submit it earlier than that date.
For this solution, we suggest consulting with your accountant first before doing this action. They'll be able to ensure that this is right for your business.
Come back and let us know what your accountant recommends. We're always here to have your back. Take care!
This is my first year end payroll with QBs desktop. My pay period is 12/18 - 12/31/22 so I wouldn't even process payroll until 01/01/23 (01/02/23 with the holiday) with a pay date of 01/05/23. Will this payroll be included for the year end 2022 W-2's?
Thanks
