I need to process a zero dollar paycheck this morning for the business owner for tax purposes and date it 12/31/21. Quickbooks online won't allow me to use that date?

How do I override the date error message so I can process this check with a 12/31/21 date?

I can help you with this, @flashperformance.

You can create your zero-dollar paycheck as you normally would as long as it doesn’t affect your tax payments and cause any tax penalties.

  1. Follow the steps in How do I create a paycheck for an employee.
  2. When you fill out the pay date, change it to the date you paid your employee.
  3. Change the check type from direct deposit to paper check if that's how you paid them, and submit your payroll.

Note: If you get an alert that says “Select a more recent date” when you send a late payroll, contact us for help.
