Hi there-
A client needs to file Form 941 for the current year and prior years (for reasons I do not yet know). This is going back as far as 2017. Firstly, they do not have a 10 digit IRS PIN (and I believe that takes a while to get). Secondly, can their 941 returns be filed electronically WITHOUT this PIN? If so, can they do it for prior years going back to 2017? If not, paper filing might be the only way to go (which is not ideal either, since the IRS is backlogged, but what can you do?). Would love your words of advice please! Thank you!
Hi, ArtyFacts123.
I'm here to share some information about the 10-digit e-file PIN in QuickBooks.
This PIN is obtained after enrolling in the E-file service in QuickBooks Desktop and this is different from the EFIN/ERO. If you do not receive this PIN or have lost it, you'll need to contact the IRS to request the status of your application. To do so, you can check out the following website: https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/.
You'll need to manually fill out the forms from previous years. You can get the information in your QuickBooks Desktop and file the form through the IRS website.
You can file them through this link: https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free.
I have resources here that help guide you when enrolling and filing federal and state payroll taxes successfully in QuickBooks. Visit them each for further information:
Please feel free to leave a message if you have questions and need clarifications regarding E-file Services. I'm always here to help. Take care!
Thank you so much DebSheenD, it sounds like our client really needs to obtain that 10 digit PIN :) I appreciate your help!!
