My Bookkeeper was running my payroll on her payroll acct in my QB Pro Plus how do I disconnect

Ok now for a little more detail:

  • Remote bookkeeper
  • Using her Payroll account
  • Processing Payroll on my QB Pro Plus
  • We fired her
  • Moved our company file to Ace Cloud hosting on Monday
  • Upgraded to Enterprise 24
  • Now I have and error when I try to backup the company file when it gets to verifying "payroll" data
  • Company file broke once yesterday and want to avoid it again

With the migration of our company file to the server and the upgrade to enterprise and the fact that it was her payroll account would this cause a backup to fail and state "rebuild file"

BTW company file is 554MB and rebuilding the file when it broke took 2 HR and failed

Please help.....

Hi there, Muto. I'll guide you on how you can get back on track in handling payroll in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

You can enter your payroll service key instead of your bookkeeper's service to disconnect her payroll account. Once you have obtained the service key, you can input it in QuickBooks. Allow me to guide you through the process:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. From the Employees menu, choose Payroll, then Enter Payroll Service Key.
  3. Click the Add button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Click Finish once done.

To resolve any errors and keep your QuickBooks Desktop up-to-date with the latest features and fixes, you can install the latest update available for your version of QuickBooks. Additionally, updating your QuickBooks Payroll tax table ensures that your paycheck calculations are compliant with the latest tax regulations.

It would be best to secure a backup of your data. Since you're unable to do so, I have found an article that can guide you on how to handle this matter: Fix backup company file issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Moreover, you'll want to use QuickBooks Tool Hub to help you troubleshoot and fix common QuickBooks Desktop issues moving forward. This one-stop solution can help you resolve minor bugs and common program-related problems that you may encounter while working in QuickBooks.

Drop by again by replying to this thread if you need further help managing your QuickBooks data. I'll be sure to respond to the information or assistance you require. Have a good one.

@Muto Inc

Open your company file on QBD Pro, disconnect the payroll and create a backup file. Did you encounter any error message?
