I'm here to ensure you'll get the right support in activating your desktop payroll subscription, @neal4.

You're on the right track in re-validating your service key. Since the subscription still shows inactive, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They can securely access your account and determine the root cause of this issue. They can also help you fix this so you'll be able to run payroll. Please check out our support hours before getting in touch with them. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help from the top menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter Desktop Payroll Subscription Still Shows Inactive After Re-validating Service Key in the Ask a question (or tell us what's wrong) box.
  5. Hit Continue.
  6. Choose an option to connect with a live support agent.

I've attached a screenshot below to show you the last three steps. For the detailed instructions, check out this article: Contact Support Team.

Also, you can always go to the Payroll Center tab from the Employees menu. From there, you can create paychecks, pay taxes, and file forms. View the screenshot below for your visual reference. To learn more about this page, see the The Payroll Center section through this article: Activate QuickBooks Desktop Payroll

I'm just a post away if you need more guidance. Enjoy the rest of your day, @neal4.
