New Direct Deposit PIN

Quickbooks has been asking for a pin verification for months, apparently I have lost it and need to retrieve it for epay of taxes to the IRS. I get an error 61102 with a message saying contact us. I cant seem to create a new one, or retrieve the old one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can help you resolve the error you're having with your Direct Deposit PIN in QuickBooks, @RC39.

 

The error 61102 means an empty PIN or no password. To resolve this, you'll need to reset this forgotten PIN. You'll just have to download and fill out this direct deposit pin reset form.

 

Take note of the following:

 

  • The Primary Principal or Secondary Principal must sign the form. This must be the person assigned as the owner of the company when you signed up for the direct deposit service.
  • Specify the company's EIN (Employer Identification Number) when requesting a PIN change.
  • A photocopy or picture of the Primary Principal's government-issued identification (e.g. driver's license). It's vital that the ID's name and signature are legible, and that the ID is still valid (not expired).

Once done, reach out to our Customer Support team to submit the form and government-issued ID. You can follow the steps below on how to reach them:

 

  1. From your QuickBooks Desktop account, click the Help menu at the top.  
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Provide some information about this concern in the search box.
  4. Click the Contact Us link at the bottom of the window. 
  5. You'll now be provided with a few support options.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) payroll, updating your payroll PIN can be done through the Send Payroll Data window or the Payroll Account Maintenance Page, depending on your situation.

 

If you remember your PIN and can access your QBDT, you can update it easily on the Payroll Account Maintenance Page. Please note that the new PIN should be 8–12 characters long and include at least one letter and number. Special characters aren’t allowed.

 

For QBDT Payroll Basic, Standard, and Enhanced, follow the detailed steps below:

 

  1. Navigate to Employees, then My Payroll Service.
  2. Choose Account/Billing Information.
  3. Sign in using your Intuit Account login.
  4. Click the Payroll Details section.
  5. Under Payroll service PIN, hit on Update PIN.
  6. Enter your old PIN.
  7. Input a new PIN and select Submit to confirm it.

 

For the QBDT Payroll Assisted version, here's how:

 

  1. Go to Employees and select My Payroll Service.
  2. Choose Billing/Bank Information.
  3. Under Service Information, click Change next to My PIN.
  4. Enter your old PIN and input a new one.
  5. Hit on Submit to confirm.

 

In case you've forgotten your PIN but have access to the admin password for your QuickBooks company file, I recommend updating it in the Send Payroll Data window. Follow the steps in Method 1 in this article: Change your direct deposit PIN in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

 

Whenever you’re unable to change your PIN within QBDT, kindly follow these steps to file a request for a PIN reset:

 

  1. Download and complete the Direct Deposit PIN reset form. 
  2. Have the Primary Principal or Secondary Principal sign the form.
  3. Get a photocopy of the primary or secondary principal's government-issued ID.
  4. Contact QBDT payroll support to submit the form and ID via Intuit File Exchange.

 

Once you receive an email from Intuit Payroll regarding the status of your request, reach out to our dedicated team again so they can generate a new PIN for you.
