OTHER WAYS TO ADD PRIOR PAYROLL HISTORY

We recently had a client who wants all the data from his old qbo account be transferred to a new qbo account. We're already done with the all the data transfers and payroll setup. Since the old account of the company has run payroll for 2024, we need to add payroll history in the new account. But what if this option is not showing in the payroll overview? How are we going to enter or add payroll history to the new qbo account? It seems like when we set up payroll, we mistakenly chose "no prior months payroll" that's why the option to add payroll history in the payroll overview function is not showing. We cannot purge this qbo account and redo all the transfers that we made because this is already in use. Please help us on how are we going to add payroll history when it is not showing in the payroll overview function. Are there any other ways? Can we undo the initial setup for payroll? If so, what are the consequences? Thanks!

OTHER WAYS TO ADD PRIOR PAYROLL HISTORY

Thanks for providing details of your concern, Sue. I'm here to ensure you can add historical payroll information in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Please know that entering prior payroll data can only be done if you haven't run your first payroll yet. It's one of the reasons why you don't have the option to add payroll history in your new QBO account aside from choosing "no prior months payroll."

Refer to this article for more details:  Set up a prior payroll.

To achieve the task, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. They have all the necessary tools to help you add historical payroll data in QuickBooks Online from the current year. You can connect with them by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Help icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Select Search, then press the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter your question in the box and hit Continue.
  4. Please choose the best way you'll want to reach out to us.

Furthermore, you may run payroll reports to have a quick view of the transactions you've created.

Let me know in the comments below if you have more questions about your payroll historical data in QuickBooks, Sue. I'll be around to provide the necessary help.

OTHER WAYS TO ADD PRIOR PAYROLL HISTORY

Thanks, Nicole.

I already tried contacting support through the help center and tried calling the number that was provided. Unfortunately, the call can't get through, not sure why. I am from the Philippines by the way, so if you could give me ways or any number I can call from here, that would greatly help.

OTHER WAYS TO ADD PRIOR PAYROLL HISTORY

On behalf of my colleague, you're most welcome, SUE MARTIN. Thanks for getting back to us with those additional details.

To proceed, I'll need to ask a few details. May I ask if you've encountered an error after calling our support? If you did, can you provide the specifics of it? And, the number you're currently using? Is it a US-based phone number or a Philippine one? Additional details will be much appreciated.

In the meantime,  we can perform basic troubleshooting steps to identify if this is a browser-related issue.

Your browser's cache saves files on your computer to allow the website to download faster on your next visit. However, it can also get outdated over time, leading to problems in accessing websites. To get started, we have to open your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account on an incognito window. Doing so will prevent the browser history from being saved.

Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If the private browsing session works, clear the browser's cache so the system can restart. This task is also possible in other supported, up-to-date browsers. Clearing the cache will reboot the system, allowing you to work with a clean slate.

If you have additional questions or need further help managing your client's payroll data, let me know in the comments, SUE MARTIN. I'd be happy to provide continued assistance. I'm committed to providing you with the knowledge and resources you need to optimize your QuickBooks experience and achieve your business goals.
