Join nowHow do I correct an error on a Simple IRA contribution from the last payroll of the year. We use a payroll service and they sent over an adjustment. Unfortunately, a JE won't post to the QB Enterprise payroll liabilities account in the payroll center. I need to reduce the employee's Simple IRA contribution on a check and increase his federal and state withholding taxes and cut a check to him for the difference. We have already accounted for the payroll expense and had previously sent the money to be deposited to his Simple IRA account. His financial advisor returned the check and told us the employee had made a deposit unknow to us. So, we need to adjust the Simple IRA money to his federal and state withholding taxes and additional pay into his account.
Let me help you do a payroll adjustment in QuickBooks, Kareninil.
If this paycheck is uncashed or not yet issued, we can correct the information by editing it in QuickBooks. Just follow the steps below:
If it’s already been issued and cashed, we can create a reimbursement check and perform a liability adjustment to correct it. To determine the correct amount deduction you can refer to the pages 48-67 in the IRS publication 15. You can check out the Adjust payroll liabilities in the QuickBooks Desktop article and go to Make a payroll liability adjustment section.
