Payroll Details (and Total Payroll) reports - are there filters that can be set?

Both of these reports seem to have headers and/or filters that are not appearing. Date Range/Employee are two of them.

Payroll Details (and Total Payroll) reports - are there filters that can be set?

Hi ccptreasurer,

Payroll reports are different and have less customization compared to sales and expense reports. For Payroll Details, it has Date Range and Employee filters. For the Total Pay, it only has Date Rate and Work Location. There is no other hidden customization.

Payroll Details (and Total Payroll) reports - are there filters that can be set?

I’m having the same problem, the words “date range” appears but there is no option to select what range is desired.  This goes along with the “bootstrap” issue that everyone is having

Hello there, @cmattblair.

Thanks for joining this conversation. Allow me to jump in for a moment and share some additional information about the Payroll Detail report in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can select Custom on the report's Date Range drop-down. This will let you enter your preferred date. Here's how:

1. On the Payroll Detail report, click the Date Range drop-down and select Custom.
2. Enter your desired date, then Run Report.

Just in case, you can also check out this article for more information: Access various Payroll Reports.

That should answer your concern for today. Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment on this thread. I'm only a few clicks away if you have any follow-up questions. Cheers!

But we're not seeing the dropdown. Just blank spaces.  The screen isn't displaying what yours displays.

Hello ccptreasurer,

Just to make sure we're on the same page, are you using QuickBooks Online Payroll, or Intuit Online Payroll, or QuickBooks Desktop Payroll?

The screenshots above shows how to customize the Payroll Detail report in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

For Intuit Online Payroll, please go to Reports and search for Payroll Details. Please see the photo below.

For QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, go to Reports, select Employees and Payroll, then select Payroll Details

Please don't hesitate to post more questions. We'll be right here to help.

Online Payroll - the desktop app version.

Strangely enough, on a different computer I do see them. But reading that someone else experienced the same issues I did tells me that there is indeed something funky. I thought I had uploaded a screenshot, but it appears that I didn't.  I don't have access to the screenshot until this evening, alas (it's on the computer where I had the issue).
And while it's not the right forum, after the most recent (?) update, the desktop app asks if I want to reload the pages, and if I click yes, absolutely nothing happens. In fact, it got to be so useless that I went to the browser-based version. I know there are a lot of moving parts and that it's hard to make everything work on every system, for sure. Thanks!

Hi there, @ccptreasurer.

Thank you for getting back to us here in the Community. Allow me to join the thread and help share additional information about running reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

To single out the cause of this unexpected behavior, you may need to start running/opening the report using an incognito window/private browser. You can use either of the following shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome, press CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press CTRL + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press CTRL + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If it works fine using an incognito window, you may need to clear the cache of your regular web browsers. Also, using another supported browser can also help us narrow down the cause of this unexpected behavior.

If the issue persists, I suggest reaching out to our Payroll Support. An agent will be able to check and investigate this further through a secured remote access.

For the support's contact information, you may check it here: https://payroll.intuit.com/support/contact/?infosrc=qs&service=64.

Let me know if you have any other concerns about running reports in QuickBooks. I'd be glad to help!
