Payroll Transfer from Desktop Enterprise to Quickbooks Online

Hello!

I'm transitioning a client from Desktop Enterprise to QBO. All of their information copied over with the exception of payroll which I will manually enter. How best can I go about this?

Specifically with cash tips. They have a "Reported cash tips" line in gross pay and a "Reported cash tips (offset)" line in deductions from net pay. As I'm trying to enter 2021 pay data from payroll already processed out of Enterprise, how can I manually enter it into QBO for each employee. I was able to add the pay type cash tips, but I can't figure out how to add the deduction to get to the right net pay.

Thanks!

Payroll Transfer from Desktop Enterprise to Quickbooks Online

Welcome to the Community, @Q2021B.

Since you already created the Cash Tips pay type (deduction), here's how to add the deduction to get to the right employees' net pay:

  1. In QuickBooks Online (QBO), go to the Workers or Payroll menu on the left panel.
  2. Click Run payroll at the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select the Bank account and Pay period, then enter the Pay date.
  4. Choose the employees you’re working on.
  5. Enter the amount in the Cash Tips box.
  6. Hit Preview payroll.
  7. Once you're ready, you can Submit payroll.
