QB Enhanced Payroll Client Ready Reports Not Working

I have this problem on occasion and then it goes away and then it comes back.

When I try to export the Client Ready Payroll Reports in QuickBooks it takes the normal time and then the tells me it is done but does not have any data in the excel file. It isn't a macro issue or anything like that. It just isn't pulling any data out of QuickBooks.

I have tried this on multiple computers with the same problem. I have tried this with multiple company files and it only happens in the one file. I have tried to rebuild/verify the file, I have tried to make sure the QuickBooks file is up to date. I'm out of ideas.

Let's get this working for you, Violet1.

Aside from updating the QuickBooks release version and doing the Verify and Rebuild process, you also need to keep the Payroll Tax Table updated. Doing these updates will get rid unexpected issues when managing your payroll data.

In addition to that, you might need to also update the Microsoft Excel. This is is to ensure that the programs associated with QuickBooks are compatible with one another.

If the issue happens, I'd recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. They can further review your data and provide additional troubleshooting steps.

Let us know how this goes so we can also check what other assistance we can give.

QB Enhanced Payroll Client Ready Reports Not Working

I have the payroll updated. I upgraded my Excel to the newest version and the QuickBooks file to the newest version. Nothing worked.

I contacted the QuickBooks ProAdvisor hotline (I'm a ProAdvisor) yesterday before posting this question. They were not helpful.

PS- I can process this report with a different company file. It runs without any problems. I was using the same QuickBooks software and the same excel version. The only difference is the actual company file that I used and the payroll size.

The weird thing is that I can get the report to run for all of November but when I tried to run it for any time in December it won't work for the company I need it to run in. Again the other company file it works just fine.

The other thing is that I can run the summarized payroll data report without any issues. So it is just effecting this one report.

Hello Violet1.

I can see that you've tried a few things to figure out the reason and resolve the missing data in your company file. It could be that your report list is damaged or corrupted. One thing that we can do to fix it is to re-sort the list. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reportmenu.
  2. Click Memorized Reports, then hit Memorized Reports List.
  3. Select Memorized Report drop-down and select Re-sort List.
  4. If prompted, hit OK.

If the same thing happens, it would be best to contact our support team to look into this issue in detail using their tools. Here's how to contact them:

  1. Go to the Help menu once you open QuickBooks.
  2. Click QuickBooks Desktop Help or press F1 on your keyboard.
  3. Select Contact us button.
  4. Enter a short description of your concern in the Tell us more about your question box.
  5. Hit Search. Select Start a message.

Let me know if you have other questions. I'm here to assist you anytime. Stay safe.

Will this help even though I'm not using a memorized report?

Is there a size limit to the report "Client Ready Reports"? It is a larger payroll and I'm still able to run it for November just not December. Is it possible we went over the limit this payroll?

Let's resolve the error to successfully run the report, @Violet1.

Yes, that'll work! The report doesn't need to be memorized to re-sort the list. You can just re-sort the list from the Memorized Report drop-down. You can follow the steps provided by SarahannC on how to perform it.

The maximum number of entries for payroll items is 10,000. See this maximum number of list entries (list limits and custom fields) article for more information.

You may also consider running the Condense Data utility. You can use this tool if you have a large data file and are nearing a list limit. This will reduce the size by removing transaction detail and list entries. Check this use the Condense Data utility article for more information.

Re-sorting the list does not work.

I don't think the report is broken because I can run the same exact report for any pay date in November just not the payroll I just ran for December. If the report was broken in the way that resorting the list works it would not run for November either. When a report has that problem it just does nothing. I've ran into this numerous of times. The report runs through the entire process (takes about 30 mins) and then gives me several tabs that ONLY contain the name of the business and other header details with nothing below. It is supposed to have all of the payroll information in the report. PS- the 30 mins is normal for this report. It takes a long time to populate.

I am not at the max payroll items. My total list for employees is around 650. I do not want to condense data and loose transactional information.

The employees that I process each payroll are around 180.

As I mentioned in one of the earlier posts I already did all of the rebuild data troubleshooting steps. I did that before ever creating this thread.

I am a QuickBooks Proadvisor. I do all of the trouble shooting steps that were mentioned on my clients files on a regular basis. I think I need something outside the normal trouble shooting steps.

The report works in one month but not the other... that is not a normal issue. I should say I can run November today but not December. Meaning it isn't a problem for all dates just the dates in December.

The payroll reports that export into Excel work differently then the other reports in QuickBooks. It is that part of the process that is giving me trouble and it isn't with all reports just the one.

QB Enhanced Payroll Client Ready Reports Not Working

I, too, lost my MOST USED client ready report in December 2020.  Spent over 3 hours on the phone with Quickbooks support to no avail.  They blamed it on Excel version.  Passed the buck.  The following is what I experienced for no apparent reason.

1.  Client Ready Reports - Payroll Register suddenly does not populate.  Every other Client Ready Report still works fine.

Does this sound like an Excel issue?  I think not.

Sadly, this payroll register is my most used report.  I have also spent hours looking for something that would suffice that isn't loaded with inflexible pivot tables and macros and lists.  I cannot believe that Intuit/Quickbooks doesn't have a nice simple flexible Gross to Net Payroll Register.

Some of the answers to your thread mentioned saving to Memorized Reports.  I think they are not aware that you can't actually save a report that is exported to Excel in Memorized Reports.

I sure wish I had this report back again.

My payroll register won't run in ANY of my client companies for any time period.  Like I said earlier, the report itself is dead, but every other report in Client Ready Reports still works fine.

QB Enhanced Payroll Client Ready Reports Not Working

This problem appears to have resurfaced with the most recent release of the payroll tax updates. In both 2020 and 2021 QB Accountants version the Client Ready Report fails to launch. I was using MS Office 2016 and after the issue appeared one of the suggestions was to update MS Office, so I installed a copy of the MN Office 2021. no change in the error message. I've tried using the QB Tool hub (most recent version) I have tried with all 25 QB client files and they all error out. I've also updated Windows 10 for every possible update available. I've run QB Update multiple times for all products and services.

Any other Ideas?
