Can't get over how much they charge today.
Years back it was $75 per year and today close to $500.
For what? The number of line items has not changed much.
And, you pay for confusion.
For example, take a look a the latest
tax table up date we got in late October of 2021. Refer to the "State
Disability Insurance Employer rate". On January 1/1/2021
it had 2 changes at the same time. Unless you access the States website
you'd never know what it is. And, if you call QB Payroll support they are
just as clueless.
QB updated for 941 a few weeks ago. When we tried to run our 3rd qtr
941 QB's system failed to include all the employees paid for the quarter.
We called QB Tech Support on Oct 8th, spoke with "Lucy", support ticket
number [removed]. She said someone would call us back. Never happened.
We called QB Tech Support again on Oct 12th, spoke with "Victor", support
ticket [removed]. He said someone would call us back. Never happened.
And, if they do call you back you get disconnected. They have a terrible phone
system never mind accents and grammar.
So unless you really have an absolute crazy reason to use Intuits QB Payroll
system, don't bother. There are hundreds of better, cheaper, more accurate and friendly
services out there.

We want to make sure this is taken care of by the correct department. Please note that this is a public forum, and we do not handle account-related concerns, like billing, to protect our customer's data.
The best team to help you out with this billing concern is our Payroll Support people. I know you have called several times for this, but only they can open your payroll history and help with money movement.

Yes, this has been a support MO for many years. They say they'll call you back and rarely do. I have no idea why Intuit lets this continue unabated. Some say it's just a way to get you off the phone.

Regarding your 941, there's likely an easy answer to that, which every payroll support rep should know well. But, since they know little about QuickBooks, they don't.
Are you referring to Box 1, "Number of employees who received wages, tips, or other compensation for the pay period including: June 12 (Quarter 2), Sept. 12 (Quarter 3), or Dec. 12 (Quarter 4)"? If so, then it is common a point of confusion. However, to my knowledge QuickBooks has never messed up this field and instead does what is mandated by the form's instructions and box label.
To calculate at the number for Box 1, QuickBooks counts the number of employees that have received a paycheck where the pay period includes the date mentioned in the field's label, above. So, for quarter 3, it counts the number of employees who have paychecks where the pay period includes Sept 12, which was a Sunday this year. Many state SUI forms have the same sort of calculation, where some want a count for every month each quarter, not just the last month.
For this reason, it is important for your pay periods to butt-up against each other seamlessly, without gaps. Using a weekly payroll as an example, each weekly pay period should be 7 days, the 7 days after the last weekly pay period, mirroring your work week (the week used to calculate overtime and for other compliance reasons.) If your week ends on Friday, for example, it starts on the previous Saturday. This is true even if your business is only open on weekdays or is open 6 days a week, closed perhaps on Saturday or Sunday or Monday.
Jen,
Your moderation of this thread overstepping.
You offered no valuable input.
However, if it makes you feel like you are doing your job, that's okay.
Your wasting bandwidth Jen.
Your as helpful as Tech Support, lol.
I can't tell you how many 941 forms we have processed through QB over the past 30 years (or when ever they started offering it). Date of paycheck in the quarter never had an effect or affect on the number of employees reported. The issue is simply QB is not what it used to be. Not worth using.
