Hello. We have to upgrade out QB Desktop Pro 2019 to 2022. If I use the program with the payroll, do I still have to pay $2 - $4 per employee each month? I have almost 100 employees and don't want to spend an extra $200 - $400 a month. Thanks.
I'm here to share insights about paying your employees, @SCC107.
Yes, you need to pay +$2/employee per month even if you use QuickBooks Desktop PRO 2022 with payroll. Please note that the payroll subscriptions offer no limit on the number of employees that you can add to QuickBooks.
To help you choose your payroll plan, you can see this article: QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. Click the Learn more button to see the details of each subscription.
I understand that you need to spend an extra amount for your employees but, I'd still suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team. They might have deals that can offer so you can spend less for your employees. To reach them, click this article: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
You can also read through these articles to learn more about managing your payroll subscription in QBDT. It also contains steps on how to set up your payroll like adding employees, taxes, etc.:

Thank you for the clarification. For the QB online with payroll, do the fees per employee incur with each check - we pay them weekly - or is it just the $4 per month regardless of the number of checks? Also, is there still the $1.75 fee per direct deposit? Thank you.
Good morning, @SCC107.
Thanks for following up with us.
QuickBooks Payroll Pricing is subscription-based, which also includes a monthly fee and an additional per-employee monthly cost. However, the DD fee isn’t included. You'll only get billed the moment you process a direct deposit in QuickBooks.
If you have the QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll and have not exceed 3 employees and unlimited, you won't be charged for direct deposit. Otherwise, you'll be getting a $2 fee for every transaction processed, as my colleague has mentioned above.
For the new Online Payroll service, each employee gets $[4/8/10] per month with no additional fees for direct deposit.
It would be best to consult our Payroll Support Team to know more about the payroll fees per your subscription plan. You can use the link I've included below to connect with an agent.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
