#AMA | Ask a QuickBooks Expert About Payroll

Hello,

I am unable to e-file my 941 report or my NM Unemployment.  I have Quickbooks Desktop payroll enhanced.  The buttons are greyed out, and I cannot click on them.  NM Unemployment required Quickbooks to be a third-party person to allow for e-file.  The intuit community page does not give information regarding Quickbooks desktop payroll enhanced.  I called Quickbooks, and they were not able to help me with this.   All the links that I try to tap on the community website gives me links that are broken and do not provide assistance.  Can you help me with this?  Thank you!

Hi @Teft2022 ,

Thanks for participating in our #AMA today. I'd be happy to help you with getting your e-file working.

Have you enrolled and set up your e-file/e-pay options yet? If not, please follow the steps here:

Set up Federal e-file and e-pay in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced

Once you have successfully enrolled in EFTPS and set up the ability to e-file, you'll follow these steps to E-file and e-pay federal forms and taxes in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced :

  1. Go to Employees, select Payroll Tax Forms and W-2s, then select Process Payroll Forms
  2. Select the federal form you need to file from the list.
  3. Select Create Form. Choose the form filing period, then select OK
  4. Review each part of the form. You can select Check for errors, then make necessary corrections.
  5. Select Submit Form. Then select E-file
  6. Enter your 10-digit IRS E-file pin and follow onscreen instructions to continue filing the form.

You’ll get an email confirmation within 24-48 hours. To check the status, see Check e-file or e-pay status.

This should get you squared away! Feel free to reach out anytime. We're always happy to help.

When I get to the screen to view enrollments, I get script errors.

Script errors are generally connected to Internet Explorer @Teft2022.

QuickBooks by default uses that browser's settings to connect with the internet. We have different steps to get past it.

First, you'll want to set up Internet Explorer to be your default browser

Next, let's add Intuit as a trusted site in Internet Explorer. Here's how:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Command, then select Tools.
  3. Select Internet Options, then go to the Security tab.
  4. Click Trusted sites, then click Sites.
  5. In the Add this website to the zone field, enter *.intuit.com, then click Add.
  6. In the Trusted sites window, uncheck Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.
  7. Close the Trusted sites window, then uncheck Enable Protected Mode.
  8. Close the browser.

Then, we'll have to disable add-ons on the Internet Explorer. Here's how:

  1. Open the browser, then click Command.
  2. Select Tools, then click Internet Options.
  3. Go to Programs, then click Manager add-ons.
  4. Select disable add-ons, and click OK.
