Anyone else have QBO payroll screw up when transactions showed up? All classes have been forgotten. Work around to fix the QBO problem is VERY cumbersome.

Ran payroll is usual.  I use classes.  All payroll was added as a single class.  Also see my federal deposit is also screwed up.

I appreciate posting your concern with your class tracking for your payroll transactions here in the Community, Dpb2. Let me share details regarding this matter.

If you have configured your Class tracking for your payroll transaction as -  I use the same class for all your employees, then all your employee payroll transactions will be posted in one class. Kindly see the screenshot below as a reference:

Moreover, if you've set up - I use different classes for different employees. Their payroll transactions will be assigned to their respective classes. Please refer to the screenshot below for clarification:

Furthermore, since you want to assign your payroll transactions to different classes, I recommend visiting your Payroll Settings and see if you've set it as - I use different classes for different employees.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom till you see Accounting, then click on the pencil icon.
  3. On the Class tracking section, tap the pencil icon again to open a panel to configure the setup.
  4. Mark the I used different classes for different employees button to assign different classes for various employees.
  5. Once finished, select Save.

Henceforward, in correcting your current payroll, you can delete and recreate it. However, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Payroll support if you're using Direct deposit. They can guide you through the proper process of the subject.

In regard to your Federal Deposit, I'd like to ask for further information on what happened and how did it screw up? Giving us additional details helps us to investigate this issue. On the other hand, if you're processing electronic federal tax payments and find a strange amount, you can always reach out to our  QuickBooks Online Payroll support for correction.

Additionally, to gain a more detailed insight into your business's financial status, familiarize yourself with running, printing, and customizing payroll reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll by referring to the relevant article: Run payroll reports.

Keep me posted if you have other concerns with tracking the class of your payroll transactions or any QBO-related inquiry, Dpb2. The Community will be here to assist you at any time.
