Can anyone provide guidance about how to download a 1099 from a client? I signed up for a "free" account but there is absolutely no information about how to do this. GGRRR. I have spent 20 minutes on this -- to no available.

Hey there, @pattyplundy-gmai.

I'll be glad to provide you the steps on how you can download your 1099 in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

To get this data, you'll have to make sure that you're client is using QuickBooks Online (QBO). This way, you can ask them to use their account and send you an invite to fill out your Form W-9.

Then, you can sign in from QBSE to complete the form and send it back directly. Finally, you can download your 1099-MISC when it's ready.

Here's how they can invite you:

  1. In QuickBooks Online go to Payroll.
  2. Select Contractors and click Add a contractor.
  3. Enter the contractor’s name and email in the fields provided, then select Add contractor.

Once done, we’ll send you an email in real-time. For more info, see Fill out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC in QBSE.

Additionally, you'll get an email when your 1099 is ready for download. This happens after your employer/client submits your 1099-MISC to the IRS. Then, you can sign in to your account and view or print your 1099

I'm just a reply away if you have other questions with the QuickBooks Self-Employed. Just add the details of your concerns in this thread and I'll help you out. Keep safe.
