editing a paycheck

Can't edit paycheck. QBO  says taxes have already been paid but the payroll is dated 4 days from now and I know that is not the case. I called in and it took 46 minutes to get the original check deleted so I could create a new one. The rep said it was because the payroll is set up for direct deposit. I know for a fact that this is not true because I have edited payrolls in the past up unntil late the day before. I had a similar problem last year with a different client and it did not clear up until the ne year. So for about 4 months I had to call in if there were changes.

When I said I wanted the issue cleared up so there would be no problems going forwad  the rep stated that I should go through the feedback link in QBO. Also no survey to see how they rank

editing a paycheck

Good day, @sueper61.

You can generally edit an approved paycheck from your most recent payroll. The process depends on whether or not you have already delivered the paycheck to the employee.

See the list of what can and can't be edited in this link: How to change an employee paycheck in Online Payroll.

Additionally, your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team. They are the ones who will review the suggestion and implement it depending on the volume of requests.

If you haven't sent anything yet, follow these steps to do so:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top and click Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit feedback.

You can also visit our Firm of the Future site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this. I'm always around to provide answers and clarifications to your questions. Have a great day ahead and take care.

I guess I didn't make it clear the the pay date was four days away when I tried to edit the check. Yes I submitted feedback and gt a reply saying that if I needed immediate support to contact support through QBO which are the ones who told me to report through feedback.

I doubt I will get the specific problem handled and it will just have to work itself out over time. Frustrating to say the least especially since the taxes are set up automatically through QBO so there should not be any errors.

I have the same problem.  Have spent over 4 hours with four different reps ... and gotten two separate case numbers.

Still unresolved...  :-(

editing a paycheck

Hi there, kailangyu.

I'm here to help provide some information about editing paychecks in QuickBooks Online.

But before that, are there any error messages you've encountered when editing paychecks into QuickBooks Online? If you can provide a specific error message it would help us identify the reason why this is happening and find the best resolution for it.

Editing a direct deposit paycheck will depend on what processing state your payroll is in. We generally offload direct deposits at exactly 5:00 PM Pacific Time. You'll have to void the payment you've submitted before the offload schedule to make any necessary changes to the direct deposit paycheck.

A submitted payroll check with taxes already paid is done via payroll correction. That being said, I encourage you to reach out to our QuickBooks Care Team again. This way, they can help you void/delete the paycheck and recreate it with a paper check. Also, to follow up on a status of a case.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right-hand corner.
  2. Type in "Talk to a human", then press Enter.
  3. Look for I still need a human and click on it.
  4. Click Get help from a human or Contact Support Team.
  5. Select between Send a messageSchedule an appointment, or Get a callback.
