When I submitted the quarterly epayment for 940 and 941, I got messages for both payments that the agency rejected with the following message. However, my Internet password works when I login to my eftps. (Not expired)
Problem: Internet Password has expired.
Solution: Please go to https://community.intuit.com/articles/1762832 for directions on how to update your Internet password on the EFTPS website AND in QuickBooks.
Any recommendations on how to handle this?
Hey there, AGCorp.
Thanks for dropping by the Community, even though your internet password works, I would recommend resetting it via the steps in that provided link. Sometimes, the expiration period is a QuickBooks-only requirement. So it isn't required by EFTPS. Which would be the reason for your internet password still working. If you follow those steps and still have issues, feel free to post here anytime.
Thank you and have a nice evening.
Same problem here.
I did change the PW as you said, still rejected. Buit now the reason says "authentication error".
I tried multiple time. NOT WORKING!
I can login fine on the EFTPS website.
Fix your software! Not worth the money!
Hi there, @nenealuis.
In the meantime, you can make the payments on the EFTPS site and record your payment in QuickBooks.
Since you're still not seeing a resolution after completing the steps, I recommend contacting our support team. They have the tools available to pull your account in a secure environment and check more into what's going on. I've included the steps below to contacting our technical support team.

I have done these steps MULTIPLE TIMES and it is STILL NOT WORKING!
Hello there, tlspread. I can see the importance of getting this work again.
There's a 13-month expiration policy implemented, which means that your passwords expire after 13 months from the time they were changed.
If you haven't tried resetting your EFTPS Internet password, you follow the steps below. If you're done with this process, you can double-check the process to make sure everything is set up correctly. Here's how:
Then, let's wait an hour before sending a federal e-payment to reflect the changes in the program. In case you need further guidance with changing your Internet password, I'd recommend contacting EFTPS Support.
Also, you'll have to change your password in QuickBooks Desktop to match your new EFTPS Internet password the next time you make an e-payment. Here's how:
The next time you make e-payment, re-enter your new 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password, and select the Remember my Information for Next Time option. Let's take a look at this sample screenshot:
You'll want to check out this article to know more on how to electronically file and pay 940, 941/944 forms in QuickBooks Desktop: E-pay 940 and 941/944 tax forms.
If the same thing happens, please give us a call to further check your account in detail. This way, we'll be able to determine what's causing this odd behavior in your company file. Still, I'd suggest following the steps shared by my colleague MaryAnn_E.
Please let me know if you have other questions. The Community team is always here to help as soon as you post your concerns.
I was able to correct my password on ETPS. How do I resubmit the rejected payment through QB?
Great job in updating your password, Jody.
