Errors exporting Payroll from Online to desktop

I have Quickbooks Online Payroll and I'm trying to export it to my computer then import it into my Quickbooks Desktop file. I have chatted and been on the phone with quickbooks multiple times. It finally worked one time during about 5 different calls to Quickbooks and now it won't work again. It has exported multiple times in the past before I started having this problem. I get an error that says You are trying to open a Quickbooks file. ONly Quickbooks company files can be opened this way. All I am doing is exporting from Payroll (online) and when I try to import into my Quickbooks desktop it says We weren't able to import your file. I really need this to import and don't have the time to spend hours again on the phone with Quickbooks support while they move me back and forth between Online Payroll and Desktop departments with both saying it isn't their issue and that I need to talk to the other dept. Please help. My company file has been updated.

To further guide you with exporting your data to your computer and importing it to your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Support team. They will provide you with guidance in a secure and protected environment.

 

You can do it by going to the Help icon at the top right of the account. Follow the steps below: 

 

  1. Go to the Help icon to connect to a live support agent.
  2. Click on the Contact Us button and provide some details about this concern.
  3. Provide us with some information about your concern in the What can we help you with? box and click on Continue.
  4. You'll now be provided options on how to connect to our Customer Support.

There's an investigation related to the error about importing files from QBO to QBDT, @MARIA M.

 

You'll need to contact our Support Team to be added to the list of affected users. This way, you'll receive resolutions via email once available. Rest assured that our engineers are looking into this to provide an effective solution. 

 

  1. Go to the Help icon and choose Search.
  2. Click the Contact Us button and enter your concern.
  3. Press Continue.

I am having extreme difficult issues with the same thing. Went to QB online, hated it, went back to a newer version of the desktop and nothing from the online is importing to the desktop. I desperately need my payroll to export and import over for year end purposes. Spent 1hr and 49 minutes on the phone today with multiple CS reps with no resolution.

Errors exporting Payroll from Online to desktop

I never received any solutions with the Customer Service at Quickbooks. The Online dept said it was the Desktop's issue and the Desktop dept. said it was the online's problem.  They took over my computer and tried to fix it. I spent multiple  hours on multiple days trying to get a resolution. I finally just had to remember to duplicate all of it in my Desktop account for the year. That's a lot of money to pay for that not to work!!
