I'm not sure what Jay is referring to since his mention of changing a font box color is an all the time thing done at the template level, and is not dependent on an item - which is what you asked.
No you can not set an item to print in any color, that would be nice though.
Hey there JDRMD,
First off, welcome to the Community, and thanks for reaching out with your question.
In the Desktop version of QuickBooks, you have the ability to change the font color for any specific text box you have set up on the invoice. You'd need to go into your invoice template, double-click the text box you'd like to change, and select the color you like.
For QuickBooks Online, you're only able to change the heading on the invoice, the font color is not able to be edited.
Don't hesitate to reach back out, if you have any other questions. Thanks.

I am able to make changes to my report font and color and can see the changes on my screen, why are these changes not showing up when I print?

QBO seems limited compared to Desktop everywhere I look,
Not invoices but reports. I am able to make font and color changes on my reports, which I can see on my desktop but when I print the reports the font and color changes do not appear. What can I do to print reports that show the font and color changes I have made?
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community again, Maria64. I'll be sharing details on how reports work in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, I'll ensure you can send feedback so our product developers can consider adding the feature in the next updates.
You can always customize and print reports based on the details you want to view. However, printing each report that appears with the font and color changes you have made is currently unavailable. This is because we want your data from QuickBooks printed orderly.
For now, I encourage you to go to the Help icon and choose Send Feedback Online. You can submit a request about having the feature to print reports and shows the font and color that has been applied when customized. Any recommendations are sent to our engineers for consideration in future updates.
Furthermore, you can also visit our MarketPlace website. You can scan through the site to get a better comparison of the available apps you can use in printing reports and achieving your goal.
Lastly, you may refer to this article to see steps on how you can memorize reports in QuickBooks so the same settings of the customized report are available for future use: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.
I got your back if you have any other concerns about printing reports in QuickBooks. Don't hesitate to leave a reply below, Maria64. Have a great day!
