How can I delete a scheduled payroll?

I ran a scheduled payroll. While running it, I had to Finish Later.  I came back to it and finished and sent the deposits.  While processing it, the start date had changed to 06/01/21 instead of 11/01/21.  I assumed I had fat fingered it, changed it back to 11/01/21.  The hours and totals were all correct for this pay period.  When I went back to pay the liabilities, the payroll is showing as Pending/Resume Scheduled payroll.  How do I delete it? I don't want to process it through and end up paying folks twice.

How can I delete a scheduled payroll?

Hey there, @angelmurf. I'll help you cancel a scheduled payroll.

You can cancel paychecks and direct deposit payments after they're submitted. You can delete the pending payroll as long as it's not been processed yet.

Here's how:

  1. Select Employees from the top menu bar.
  2. Choose Payroll Center.
  3. Click the Pay Employees tab.
  4. Locate then click the payroll in the Recent Payrolls section.
  5. Choose the paycheck you need and click the Delete button.
  6. Select OK to confirm the changes.

If you're unable to delete the paycheck, you can void it. However, depending on your processing time, the debit from your bank for taxes and direct deposit might not be stopped. If so, you can void their payment and collect your money back from the employee. Additionally, you may qualify to submit a request for direct deposit reversal.

I'll always be around to lend a hand if you need further assistance with processing payroll. Have a nice day.
