How do I add a payment fo 1099's for 2021? Currently shows no value

1099's for my contractors show no money paid in 2021. We pay them all in January before our BofA system changed over to Quickbooks.  How do i manually add an amount paid?

How do I add a payment fo 1099's for 2021? Currently shows no value

Hello there, @Anngelfire

I'll provide some information that'll help you resolve your concern.

Payments that are made through cash, checks, direct deposit, and electronic funds transfer are all deemed reportable and are included on Form 1099-MISC.

For more information on IRS requirements, go to the IRS Final Regulations on Payment Card Reporting web page.

I've also added these articles below for further reference:

If you have any additional questions regarding tax forms, feel free to come back. It's my pleasure to help you out. Stay healthy and happy!

How do I add a payment fo 1099's for 2021? Currently shows no value

I know all that information. What I am asking is how do I add the payments made in January 2021 to the 1099's in Quickbooks so I can efile them with the IRS? Band of America switched providers last fall so none of the payments are showing up!

Thanks for getting back to us, @Anngelfire. Let me address your concern about adding payments made in January 2021 to the Federal 1099 forms in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

You won’t be able to see payments you made to contractors electronically (such as by credit card, etc.). This is because these are reported for you by the credit card company, bank, etc.

Otherwise, you can double-check the year and threshold right above the Name column if you don't see all of the payments you expect.

Additionally, you can refer to your accountant to further guide you on this matter.

You can also check this article for more details about creating and filing 1099s.

I’m always ready to assist you if you have any other questions or concerns about the information above. Tag me in your reply and I’ll sprint back into action. Have a good one and keep safe.

When i click on the link to  prepare and file 1099's it says MESSAGE NOT AVAILABLE.  How helpful is that?

Hi there, Anngelfire. Thanks for letting the Community know what's occurring when you try to prepare and file 1099 forms.

Since you're encountering a "MESSAGE NOT AVAILABLE" error, I'd recommend checking your browser. It's possible this could have something to do with temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these types of records, but sometimes they can cause issues with certain webpages. You can open a private window and check to see if you're able to prepare and file 1099s.

Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used web browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If you're able to prepare and file forms while browsing privately, it's safe to say this problem's being caused by your browser. It can be fixed by clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies.

In the event it continues occurring while using incognito, you'll initially want to try switching to another browsing application.

Here's a list of supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari 11 or newer

You can also check a browser's compatibility with your books by utilizing our browser health checkup tool. QuickBooks supports the current and two previous versions of browsers. If you find that you're using an older version, make sure to update it to its latest release. Steps for doing so can be found on the particular company's website.

In the event you've found no problems that could be causing this with your browser, I'd recommend using a different device and/or internet connection. If it continues happening on other devices and/or internet connections, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

They can be reached while you're signed in:

  1. Use the Help (?) icon.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Enter a description of your situation in the What can we help you with? field, then hit Let's talk.
  4. Select Start messaging or Get a call.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

I've additionally included a detailed resource about system requirements for QuickBooks that may come in handy moving forward: System requirements

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a great day!
