Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unable to change a contractor's information (i.e., Social Security Number) on Form 1099 that's already e-filed. You'll have to manually amend the form to the appropriate agency to correct it. However, you can print a new paper copy and send it to the IRS with QBO.
Before that, let's go to the contractor's profile and change their Social Security Number. This way, the paper copy will contain the updated and correct details. Here's how:
Once done, let's go back to the Prepare 1099s page and print your contractor's corrected 1099 copy. Here's how:
After that, manually amend the Form 1099 to the IRS. You can use the instructions provided in this article to do so: General Instructions for Certain Information Returns. Once done, provide the corrected return to your contractor.
