Hello @KRD62.

Happy New Year!

I understand how important having the right products for your client's business is. Currently, QuickBooks Online Core Payroll can only be used in conjunction with QuickBooks Online.

Is your client planning on using a different type of accounting software? I'd love to help make sure they have what they need.

Let me know what additional questions you may have.

Thanks!

Hey,

No they really are very small and the primary need they have is payroll.  They were wondering if they could cancel their QB Plus subscription but keep the QB Online Payroll Core.  They are very happy with the payroll software but just don't have a need for the accounting software.

Thanks for coming back, KRD62.

It seems like your client is using a bundle QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription with payroll services. They can subscribe to a stand-alone payroll where they can choose a payroll plan right to their business. They can go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/payroll/pricing/bundle/. From there, they can select Core, Premium, and Elite plans. Then, choose the I only need payroll option where they continue with payroll only.

Once they have the Payroll plan only, they can cancel their QBO subscription. Here's how:

  1. Login to QBO and choose the duplicate account you wanted to cancel.
  2. Go to the Gear icon ⚙ and then select Account and Settings.
  3. Choose Billing and Subscription.
  4. Under the QuickBooks section, click Cancel.
  5. Follow the steps to cancel your account.

For the complete details on how to cancel your subscription, check out the Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial article. If they need assistance with canceling their QBO and Payroll Core accounts, they can contact our Customer Support Team. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon on the top right.
  2. Enter your concern in the search field.
  3. Choose Talk to a human.
  4. Click the OK. To get you to the right human, in a few words, tell me what you need help with option and tap I still need a human
  5. Press Contact us.
  6. Tick Continue
  7. Choose Get a callback.

To ensure we address your concern, our representatives are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturdays, PST. See our support hours and types for more details about this one.

Feel free to visit our Account management page for more insights about managing your Intuit product users.

I'm just one post away if you need anything else in QBO. Just add the details to your reply and I'll be there to address them for you. Take care always.

Thanks for the information.  Is there a way to open my client's QBO, cancel the QB Plus subscription, but keep the QBO Core Payroll associated with the QBO Plus? I don't want to lose the payroll information already set up in the current QBO account.

I have a client who only wants to use QB Online Payroll Core without using QB Plus. They currently have both subscriptions but only need the payroll function.

I can see the urgency of getting this resolved, @KRD62. With this, let me route you to the best support who can provide the appropriate details you deserve about keeping your client's QuickBooks Payroll Core account and its setup.

When your client is subscribed to QuickBooks Online (QBO) bundled with payroll, canceling only the QuickBooks (Plus) plan and keeping the Payroll Core services isn't an option.

Since the Community is a public forum, and we'll need to collect some personal information to pull up your account, I encourage you to reach out to our Payroll Care team. They can securely pull up your client's account and provide options as to how you can keep their payroll account and setup. To do this, here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QBO company.
  2. Go to the Help (?) menu.
  3. Select the Search tab.
  4. Click the Contact Us button.
  5. Enter a brief description of your concern in the What can we help you with? field.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Choose a way to connect with us. Make sure to initiate contact during support hours

Also, to further guide you in wrapping up this year’s client's payroll and preparing for the next with QBO Payroll, I'd recommend using this year-end checklist: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Please let me know if you have other concerns about managing your client's payroll account and transactions in QBO Payroll. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @KRD62.
