Hello @Anonymous,
As of the moment, there isn't an option to pull up a journal entry showing all payroll transactions.
In the meantime, you can pull up your Transaction Detail by Account report and customize it to show you payroll expenses.
Let me show you how:
Once done, this report will show your payroll transactions.
You can also save this report for easy viewing when needed. Just click the Save customization then look for this report in the Custom reports tab when needed.
Lastly, I suggest sending the same message to our product developers through feedback. This way, they'll know your journal entry set up and improve your experience with QuickBooks. Simply, go to the Gear icon then select Feedback.
I'll be always around here in the Community if you have any other questions.
You can't, like you can for all other transactions; bad design. Best you can do is run a transaction journal report for the day, and try and isolate the one transaction
I too want to look "under the hood" and see the actual payroll journal entry of a payroll check. I started to follow your instructions but do not see a Report titled Transaction Details by Account in the Report menu. What am I missing?
I'm not sure if this has been resolved but this is what I did
Reports > For my accountant > Journal > (upper right portion) Customize > Filter (Transaction Type: Payroll Check, Payroll Adjustment, Payroll Refund - These are 2 different transaction types) > Run Report
