Well this is just ridiculous intuit. Intuit customer service is useless!
i followed your instructions and
important: Illinois is no longer supported when using this feature
Quickbooks, please resolve this. Your Illinois customers need to be able to upload monthly csv reports the
the state unemployment agency each month.
Hello there, cyndi51 and DPS165,
This is not the kind of service we want you to have.
You may gather reports and file them directly at the Illinois Department of Employment Security website. See https://www2.illinois.gov/ides/Pages/Monthly_Wage_Reporting.aspx for filing instructions.
You can pull up your payroll summary report under the Reports menu. Let me show you how:
To help you customize it more, you can look into this page: Customize payroll and employee reports.
If you have any other questions, please let me know by adding a comment below.
Has Quickbooks been notified this malfunction must be fixed and a patch issued?
The State of Illinois will not permit employers to file the reports manually nor mail them, they must be in a
csv format.
It was working fine before the update, please repair this back the way it was for all us State of Illinois customers asap as we are accumulating penalties.
Has anyone solved this issue yet? I am having the same problem.
Hello there, @tchconstruction1.
You may convert the report to a .CSV file after exporting the report into an Excel file. Then, you can file it through the Illinois Tax Net web application. I'll show you the way on how to do that.
Once done, the Excel program will open. You may refer to the steps to see how to convert excel file to CSV.
Once done, you can check out this reference page to know more about the Illinois State Form Filing: Monthly Wage Reporting.
I've added this article about modifying your reports in QuickBooks Desktop: Customize payroll and employee reports.
You may also speak to one of our Customer Care Team if you need further assistance about the process. They can perform a screen share and help you get to the bottom of this.
I'll be around if you have other questions. Don't hesitate to let me know in the comment section, It would be my pleasure to help. Take care.
This is completely unacceptable. Quickbooks needs to fix this issue and restore the ability to create the mandatory State SUI E-file for Illinois!!!
This is completely unacceptable. Quickbooks needs to resolve this issue and create the State SUI E-file capabilities for Illinois!!! It has always been supported before release 1.23 and now it is no longer supported! You are wasting valuable time for a lot of users!!!
Here we are in February and this is clearly still a problem. I just sent 45 minutes on chat in order to be told that as a Basic user, I should never have had access to this report in the first place. This is after the first 15 minutes, where she kept trying to get me to buy a different version of QuickBooks. I want the one we paid for to work.
Has anyone gotten a better answer since this topic was first posted?
I just got a call from a competitor and part of his speech was about Quickbooks removing the monthly wage report. You might want to fix this sooner than later.
I spent 2 hours with customer service reps yesterday. In the end, they admitted that this functionality was removed for Illinois, but could not find any documentation or information as to why it was done. I work for two different employers, one running Desktop Pro and one running Desktop Enterprise. Don't let anyone tell you that upgrading to a more expensive version will get you the functionality back. At the end, the support agent agreed to submit feedback for me and I submitted feedback myself.
I think that the change was made after the majority of people already filed their November CSV file, so Intuit has been dismissing those who complained as people who don't know what they are doing. I'm thinking that every user in Illinois is going to have to call support in order for them to actually look into why they made this mistake and then rectify the problem.
This doesn't work. I followed the instructions perfectly and when I tried to import the sheet I received this message: 'One or more rows in ILUIMonthlyWage012021.csv contains 141 columns. Each row of the import file must have 5 columns.'
I followed your instructions and it did not work. This is the message I received:
One or more rows in ILUIMonthlyWage012021.csv contains 141 columns. Each row of the import file must have 5 columns.
Followed your instructions, again, this does not work.
Report needs to show in this exact order:
SS#, first name, last name, middle initial, total wages per month
in csv format.
Thank you!
I can't believe this still hasn't been fixed / addressed or whatever they plan to do with this. I have a client with 100s of employees and don't want to have to create my own file each month. I'm also shocked that you still can't just submit directly from QBD. You're able to with the quarterly report.
For now I just create the Tax Forms Worksheet for IL for Last Month and then copy and past what I need to new Excel and save as a CSV. It's not the best for efficiency, but I guess it's better than nothing.
Please fix this Intuit!!
I can attest that the file that Big Red Consulting shared worked exactly the way it always works via QB and it could not have been any easier to use. Sorry, not sure how to map this directly to the entry so I copied and pasted.
This is incorrect. It is not the quarterly report we are questioning. It's the MONTHLY reporting. You used to have a CSV report for this but it is unavailable as of December 2020. Please bring that back.

to make things even easier navigate yourself to the following folder (replace the Quickbooks reference with your version)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 20.0\Components\Templates
find the State_SUI.xlt file at the bottom
rename State_SUI.xlt to State_SUI v1-23.xlt
now copy the referenced ver 1.22 State_SUI.xlt file from the .zip file and paste it in the above directory.
close file manager
in QuickBooks you may now select "Create State SUI E-file just as you had done previously.
BE SURE TO CHECK THE ACCURACY of the data as our data has not matched the Employee Earnings Summary reports generated within QB, you can change the individual row information prior to saving the .csv file.
Hope this helps - i cant post the zip file so go back up in the thread and find the solution by Big Red Consulting and download that zip file then follow my instructions above

I just finished filings for 9 companies and it worked perfectly
Is this going to allow me to file a MONTHLY report to Illinois IDES or is this for Quarterly reports?
Our clients that have over 25 employees have to file a monthly report with IDES and the old way
of doing this is gone. So are you telling me a this is a new format within QBooks that will do what Illinois has required for monthly reports which only requires each employees name, social security and amount of earnings?
This is useless for monthly reporting, you can only do quarterly that way.
PLEASE FIX THIS NOW.
Thank you VERY much! This worked beautifully. Cindy
