I currently use the free version of Homebase to track employee hours and credit card tips. Homebase will not export credit card tips into Quickbooks. I've spoken to a couple of software companies that tell me that Quickbooks does not make it possible to integrate their software so that tips can be imported. So is there a another way to import credit card tips without having to enter them manually?
I have do not want to give my employee access to my quickbooks account. The payroll user can see all my finacial information. I just want them to be able to process payroll and see nothing else. So since I dont' want to give them access, I have to enter all the tips in manually which is time consuming.
Yes, there is, @smileyriley. I’m here to help and provide you information so you can automatically add those credit card tips to QuickBooks.
Since the Homebase app can’t export credit card tips, I suggest using a third-party app or importer tool. This way, you can bring in transactions into QuickBooks.
You can visit our QuickBooks App Center. From there, you can choose which one works best for your needs. I also suggest reading reviews or feedback from other users to help you decide further.
In addition, you can go to your Apps menu within your QBO account. It allows you to find, add and manage apps. I’m glad to show you the steps:

I don't want import transactions. We pay the credit card tips to the employees. I need them imported onto the paychecks. They get paid out by whomever was working on that day.
I'm not trying to import transactions. The credit card tips get paid to the employees based on whomever worked that day. I need them imported onto the employees paycheck. We also have tips from other pos systems that get compiled together each week.
I appreciate you for getting back to this thread, @smileyriley. Let me chime in and provide some information about importing credit card tips in QuickBooks.
The option credit card tips from your Homebase to QuickBooks Online is currently unavailable. The best option we have is to enter and record this manually in your account.
Let's add the tips to the employee profile. This way, we can enter the amount when you create the paychecks. Here's how:
Then, you can now enter the amount in the PAYCHECK TIPS column when creating a paycheck. Please view the screenshot below for your reference.
In addition, you can run the Payroll Summary by Employee report in QuickBooks Online. This will show the comprehensive data of wages, deductions, and tax info, totaled by employee or period. For more insight, feel free to check out this article: Run payroll reports.
Keep me posted if you have other questions about managing credit card tips in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to assist you again. Wishing for you and your business continued success.
Yes this is how we are currently doing it. But I don't want to enter them manually every week. I would like to either import them or have my employee enter them.
The problem with giving my employee acces is that I don't want her seeing all of the company's financial info. I would like to have a user access profile that includes payroll only. Is this possible?
Is doesn't seem like there is a solution for what I want to do.
Hi there, @smileyriley.
I hear you and realize the importance of your financial records' privacy. Let me provide some insights about entering your tips in QuickBooks Online.
The process that was shared by my peer Rubielyn_J is the best thing that you can do to record your employees tips in QuickBooks Online. Being able to provide a payroll only access to your employee is currently not available.
For now you may continue manually importing the tip and add them on the paycheck.
I can see the benefit of being able to give an access to your employee so you can save up time. That said, I'd encourage you to send this preference to our developers.
Our developers are constantly considering new features to be added to improve the program. This way, we can make it work the way your business needs.
