In payroll settings I do not see update payroll accounting preferences. How do I find it?

I just converted from Intuit online payroll to Quickbooks Online Payroll. It is telling me I have to update my accounting preferences under Payroll Settings. When I go to Payroll Settings I do not see the Accounting Preferences anywhere.

Hello shellycurrin!

I understand that you need to edit your payroll accounting preferences. Let me help you.

QuickBooks Online automatically creates accounts where your payroll-related entries will be recorded. We can still edit them to set up your own preferences. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings.
  2. Find the Accounting section and click the pencil icon or click the hyperlink.
  3. Update it and tap Done and Save.

I've added two different screenshots for your reference where you can find it depending on your payroll plan.CapturePayroll.jpg

If you still can't find it, it's probably because of the accumulated temporary internet files. Use an incognito window and update it from there. Here are some of the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

You also want to clear the cache to fix browser errors and make sure you're using a supported and up-to-date one.
