Buy now & saveOne of my employees withholding states changed during the last payroll update. Now I have two paychecks deducting AR Withholding instead of OK Withholding. Is there a way to go back and change these? His W4 info did not change so I'm not sure why this happened. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hi klcokc,
The state withholding is based on the chosen state in the State Worked and the State Subject to withholding details on your employee's profile. You can change them in your employee's profile if they are incorrect, and then make a tax adjustment; zero out AR withholding and increase OK withholding. Learn more about adjusting payroll liabilities in QB Desktop.
On the other hand, you can also check about multi-state withholding due to a change on employee's work location.

Hi @JessT , thank you for the info. We didn't change the state worked at all, however, his last two paychecks have the incorrect withholding state?? I can make the tax adjustment but will that cause him problems at year end on his W2?
Thanks for the information, klcokc.
Yes, the change will impact their W-2s. Having withholding for another state happens when the employee works in another state. If this didn't happen, you need to correct their state withholding. However, I highly recommend contacting our QB Desktop Payroll team so they can use a screen-sharing tool to check your records.
Remember to back up your company file before making any adjustments. That way, you have something to restore in case something goes wrong.
