Is anyone else having problems with QuickBooks online because it has not updated the 2023 Illinois unemployment tax wage base?

The Illinois 2023 unemployment tax wage base is $13,271.  Quickbooks online still has the 2022 wage base of $12,960.  I changed the rate to our new rate for 2023, but I don't see where a user can update the wage base.

I previewed our first quarter Illinois unemployment tax filing.  The salaries and unemployment tax rate are correct, but the wage base is the one for 2022, so the tax due is not being calculated correctly.

I did a live chat, but they asked about our new rate, our old rate, what paycheck was affected (unemployment tax is paid by the employer, not deducted on an employee's paycheck).  I didn't feel like they understood the question and so they never got to a solution.

Hello there, userbruce.

I appreciate for posting your concern here and providing enough information about your concern.

The system will automatically update once your state updates its rate. Let's wait for the update to reflect in your book soon. However, I cannot tell you an exact date when the Illinois unemployment tax wage base will be ready.

Illinois has already said what their wage base is for 2023 for unemployment tax calculations.

I already updated to our 2023 rate in QuickBooks online and made it effective as of 1/1/23.

But QuickBooks online is still using the 2022 Illinois wage base.

Illinois already announced their 2023 wage base.  I received a letter with our new rate and the state's new wage base in January.  I updated QuickBooks online with the new rate and made it effective 1/1/23, but QuickBooks online is still using the 2022 wage base.  A user can update the rate, but not the wage base.

Hi there, userbruce.

I know how important it is to update the Unemployment Tax Wage Base in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll. However, as my colleague @SarahannC has mentioned, the system will automatically update the rates on your behalf.

In the meantime, you can run payroll as normal while waiting for the updated Illinois tax wage base to reflect in QuickBooks. As it will automatically adjust its rate for the next payroll.
