Illinois has already said what their wage base is for 2023 for unemployment tax calculations.
I already updated to our 2023 rate in QuickBooks online and made it effective as of 1/1/23.
But QuickBooks online is still using the 2022 Illinois wage base.
Illinois already announced their 2023 wage base. I received a letter with our new rate and the state's new wage base in January. I updated QuickBooks online with the new rate and made it effective 1/1/23, but QuickBooks online is still using the 2022 wage base. A user can update the rate, but not the wage base.

I know how important it is to update the Unemployment Tax Wage Base in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll. However, as my colleague @SarahannC has mentioned, the system will automatically update the rates on your behalf.
In the meantime, you can run payroll as normal while waiting for the updated Illinois tax wage base to reflect in QuickBooks. As it will automatically adjust its rate for the next payroll.
