My payroll will not do the direct deposit after I get to the submit portion

Welcome to the Community, merricks1.

If you recently set up direct deposit, it's possible your bank account information's pending activation. This process can take 2 to 3 business days and you'll receive an email notification once confirmation's complete.

You can also check your activation's status while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings, then Payroll Settings.
  2. Under Bank Accounts, choose Company.

You'll see one of the following statuses:

  • Connected/Active - Bank account details are successfully connected to send payroll.
  • Pending - Information about the test transaction will be displayed.
  • Waiting for verification - You have an option to enter a test transaction.
  • Failed - The account couldn't be verified and needs to be updated.

A pending direct deposit can mean:

  • Your account hasn't been verified yet.
  • The funding account was verified, but had to go back into our set up process.
  • You haven't entered the employee's banking details.

If your direct deposit feature was already active and it suddenly turned off, there's two possibilities:

  • Intuit isn't able to debit your monthly or annual subscription fee.
  • The account's placed on hold due to insufficient funds.

In the event your account's on hold, you can use our Resolve non-sufficient funds (NSF) holds resource to fix it.

I've additionally included a detailed article about working with direct deposit that may come in handy moving forward: Fix direct deposit issues

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Enjoy the rest of your day!

If you are having an issue getting direct deposit set up in general, this is an 8 month old issue.  You are better off doing payroll elsewhere.

If you have already set up Direct deposit, and are simply having an issue submitting an individual payroll run for Direct Deposit, I would suggest contacting intuit via chat or phone support.  You will get a much quicker response than this forum.
