Join nowI have been using Accountant version of the payroll software since it was PayCycle prior to Intuit's acquisition. This product has helped me grow a payroll arm of my practice. However, with Intuit's price increases and never ending changes, it has become more and more difficult. As of this morning, we went to process payroll for a client only to learn that we no longer have the option to print payroll checks on blank check stock. We either have to purchase pre-printed checks or establish a 3rd party provider to print. No communication, no notice, nothing. What is everyone else doing? I am so angry right now!
Hi there, amore1966.
I completely understand the importance of having the option to print on blank check stock in QuickBooks. However, the option to print on blank check stock is no longer available due to security and compatibility reasons. QuickBooks has taken this step to enhance security and provide users with more flexible check printing options. Blank check stock offers extra security, as the bank and account details are not pre-printed, which can reduce the risk of fraud.
However, there are several alternative ways to print on blank check stock in QuickBooks, including third-party solutions like MultiCHAX, VersaCheck Gold, and PrintBoss. These solutions offer advanced security features and allow you to use one stock for all your bank accounts. For instance, MultiCHAX allows you to print MICR-encoded checks on blank paper forms in various formats. Similarly, VersaCheck Gold is integrated into QuickBooks Online for printing blank paper checks. PrintBoss also provides a way to print checks from your QuickBooks company to blank check stock, which helps save costs on pre-printed checks while providing enhanced security. These alternatives offer businesses the flexibility and protection they need for check printing. Additionally, Intuit Market also offers pre-printed checks with advanced security features.

Can you please advise why Intuit did not feel it was necessary to let accountants or customers in general know of this IMMEDIATE change? Also your answer in contradicting. If you are saying blank check stock offers extra security, then WHY did QuickBooks eliminate this option? I am so angry that QuickBooks or Intuit or whatever you want to call yourself felt it was appropriate to stop this feature without giving us time to set up an alternative solution before frantically having to get payroll done for our clients. This is truly unbelievable.
