QBO Compliance Leads to IRS Issues

As you may have read from my previous post, QBO said PO Boxes are NOT in Compliance with themselves.

A recap here - QBO forced us to use a physical address for our W-2s and 1099s instead of our PO Box, which is what is listed with ALL government agencies.  They said we had to in order for us to be in compliance with "their rules".  Otherwise, we are not allowed to use their Payroll or Pay and file payroll reports.  However, my client's office is on his personal property and all of his business mail has always gone to the same PO Box since the beginning of his business almost 18 years ago.  He does not want his employees and contractors knowing where he lives, so he did not want his physical address listed.  Instead, I used my physical address.

Consequently the Internal Revenue Service has changed my client's PO mailing address to my physical address.  Which meant I had to call in and as most of you know, wait and wait for a live person in order to get that mailing address changed back to the PO address so my client could get his mail.  I explained to the Internal Revenue Service what QBO did and the representative said she wished she could help, because QBO causes all sorts of problems that is brought to the Internal Revenue Service's  attention.  She went on to say there was nothing they could do about QBO's policies and they would if they could.

I am asking each of you that have the same issues and those of you who may not, but are in agreement to request that QBO change their address system BACK to the way it was.  They use to allow two (2) addresses.  One address for Direct Deposits and second address for Payroll Filing.  NOW it is only one address and that address cannot be a PO Box.  Which is causing us all sorts of ongoing issues.

QBO Compliance Leads to IRS Issues

Thank you.  In the past 12 years or so I have submitted many feedbacks.  To my knowledge that never did any good.  I an try again, but I know in all honesty that QBO really isn't interested and if it takes effort on their part, they let things slide.  They take the easy way out each time.

QBO Compliance Leads to IRS Issues

Well it is the end of 2022 and this issue is obviously not resolved.  I just spent quality time (again) with quickbooks straightening out the address issue so I could send a direct deposit, I HAD to change the address to a physical which is NOT where mail is received nor is it the address that the IRS has for us.  When I asked the question what to do about it, I was told (chatted) to override the address every time on IRS Docs.  I am so frustrated with quickbooks.

Request for Option to Use PO Box on Payroll Reports

I also have deep concern and frustration regarding the current requirement to use a physical address on payroll reports submitted to the IRS through QuickBooks Online Payroll. This policy has caused significant inconvenience for my business and many others, as it results in the IRS changing our mailing address from our preferred PO Box to our physical address. Consequently, we have to manually update our IRS address back to our PO Box, which is both time-consuming and inefficient.

It is important to note that using a physical address on payroll reports is a QuickBooks Online requirement, not a legal requirement.

Therefore, I strongly urge QuickBooks Online to provide an option for users to use their PO Box on payroll reports. This change would greatly benefit many small businesses that rely on PO Boxes for their official correspondence.

By implementing this feature, QuickBooks Online would demonstrate its commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of its users, thereby improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.

I submitted a suggestion too.
