So I processed direct deposit and each employee received an email with the attached paystub. Some employees could just open this pdf file with no problem and others got an error message. Those that got the error messages, the file was a dat file not a pdf. But if that person say with a gmail account went on the internet browser and signed into their account, they were able to open up their paystub and it was a pdf.
It happened with gmail, nycap.rr.com and icloud so far.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thank you in advance!
Hello @kramage9416.
Welcome to the Community! I’m glad you found us. We definitely want your employees to be able to view their paystubs. Let’s get this figured out.
For additional details on view paychecks and W-2s you can provide this guide to them as well: View your paychecks and W-2s in QuickBooks Workforce
I’ll keep an eye out for your response so we can determine our next steps.
Thanks so much!
So if they downloaded the winmaildat opener in the app store then they can open their paystub using that
but also if they go say on goggle and then to their gmail account and put in their user name and password they can see their paystub as a pdf and open it with no issues.
Just weird...does not happen with all the employees.
Sorry...the error happened on one brand new iphone and an older android phone. But I have a iphone that is relatively new that I was able to open my paystub with no issues.
The email accounts varied from gmail to nycap.rr.com to icloud from what I have seen.
Thanks for sharing more updates about the issue, kramage9416.
It looks like this is more of a phone setting issue based on the details that you've shared. You'll want to advice your employees to reach out to the support team of the phone provider to check what's causing the issue.
I would also recommend reaching out to our payroll support team. They can take a closer look at this and check if there are any other options available for you. Here's how:
In the meantime, let me also share this article for more details and references: Email Pay Stubs From QuickBooks Desktop.
